I love Blue Flag. This is perhaps the best LBGT manga I have ever read. I can't wait to read what's next!

I personally like Our Dreams at Dusk (Shimanami Tasogare) better, but by no means Blue Flag is not good enough. Both are superb imo, for a manga that is more about LGBT and (much) less about BL/GL. If you haven't read Our Dreams I'd recommend it.

I want to discuss that Blue Flag ending, but I guess I should wait until ANN gets to it one day.

I really like the tone of Blue Flag and the first few initial volumes, but I really don't think it stuck the landing (and I'm not so much as referring to what the ending is -- which I liked -- but rather what led up to that ending -- which I didn't). I think it was an overall positive experience for me, and it's nowhere near as bad as other attempts at queer representation in manga, but I think it's all the more disappointing to me because it truly did feel unaccountably good at the beginning, so I had higher expectations which ended up not being met. Still definitely worth a read, though.

Best coming-of-age queer manga I've ever read is still Kanojo ni Naritai Kimi to Boku (I Wanna Be Your Girl), which also didn't quite stick its landing, but made no major missteps unlike Blue Flag. I did like Our Dreams at Dusk but felt it ended a bit too abruptly, though, yeah, I'd probably rank it above Blue Flag as well.

From the comments I've been reading on the Japanese Jump+ site, the ending is... polarizing, for a lot of people. (It's also free on MANGA Plus right now if you're like me and can't help yourself.) This is probably destined to become one of those series where the ending precedes it, which is to say, I was spoiled for it a while ago without actually remembering the title.

I'm now committed to giving it a shot, though, and will try to snag these paperbacks when I can. The English-language end of my manga shelf has looked a bit lonely lately.

Thank you for the positive review on Blue Flag! I hope you'll continue reading it.

This series is also in Shonen Jump vault if anyone wants to binge read the chapters.

Most of the manga is a will they or won't they get together and the end of the series was very satisfactory Very Happy
