I'm really not happy with the recent changes. I did regulary use the wishlist feature on browser, so I could mark the stuff I'm interested in buying when it's discounted...
With the recent update they also disabled the remote play app on Windows 8.1 for no reason, so now I can't play in bedroom over my laptop anymore.
Oh, and they also removed private communities and user events, so no more gathering and looking for people to play certain games with directly on playstation. I didn't use those that much, so at least this one is not affecting me as much as the other stuff.
But still, lots of features were removed instead of improved, which is always a bad thing in my eyes, especially for those that regulary used or even needed those features.

I thought the Playstation 3 was already no longer supported by Sony. I'm actually impressed the website for the PS3 still functions.

It's a shame they're disabling this now. I love the PS Vita, and it deserves more love than it got.

yes because people were using an app to trick the system into htinking there computer was their ps3 so they could transfer the games to pc and pirate them.

Unfortunately, this means that those who just want to emulate the games they legally own can no longer do so.

You can still purchase games and content directly from your PS3, PSP, and PSVita's Playstation Store.

I'm actually surprised that they are still allowing purchasing for those still. It's coming up to 14 years next month that the PS3 was released.

Sony has a history of taking support (if not necessarily backwards compatibility) seriously. The PS2 was being produced for forever, and the PS3 still has a long tail. Hell, there are still new Vita games being produced out there by indie developers.

I do kind of understand the simplification here for the web browsing experience, but the way the PS3/PS Vita and PS4 games were organized and linked together (especially for cross-purchases) was always really weird. The PS Vita/TV store interface is even more confusing in this regard, since it makes PSOne, PSP, PS Vita native, and Cross-purchase games all top level categorizations. I suppose that comes from needing to accommodate lots of different publishers' desires in terms of when a purchase is combined and cross-platform and when it isn't, but still.

For games with lots of DLC (Rock Band or DOA, for example) it could be truly painful trying to navigate around. Hopefully this leads to a better experience.

They stopped supporting in the sense that most sales nowadays don’t include the system.

This is why I don't care for the digital medium that much. It can just be randomly removed one day and disappear forever.

At least you can still purchase them from the console. There are a LOT of gems in those libraries, many small titles that never got physical releases too.

It should be no big deal for Sony to leave the stores up and make a few bucks.

Though when it comes to digital, even though they promise that you can always redownload your purchases, this is a LIE.

I picked up many DLC songs for SingStar, and due to the licensed nature of this content, not only can they not be resold, by recently Sony announced that even if you purchased the songs, you can no longer download them anymore - ever.

Licenses for some could be transferred to the PS4 version, but not all of them were available.

So concerns about digital purchases are a real thing despite the promises they make. For all kinds of legal reasons your purchases can be revoked and never guaranteed.

This is probably not that big a deal for the majority of people as this has only affected a few titles, but it is real, and why I'll always prefer to buy things physically.

Yikes, the last time I tried downloading something from the PS3 store was a horrible experience. I ended up getting frustrated and used the mobile app instead...by the time I finished, the store STILL hadn't loaded on the PS3!

I had a few things on my PS3 wish list and decided to just pick them up now, since this probably means that they're more likely to stop being sold entirely than go on sale again.

You can tell Sony emloys informed individuals by the fact that they're recommending PSP owners utilize something they shutdown in 2016. Rolling Eyes Not that anyone should be using WiFi on PSP given it uses standards that are more than a decade out of date.

Ever since moving to the United States, this company has really gone downhill. Anyone who's used the PS3 store can tell you it's painful. The Vita store is a wreck that is missing a significant amount of content compatible with the platform.

I'm surprised that the PS3 store is even still up at this point, since I am reminded that the Wii is completely shut down. I also found the problem when redownload older Arcade games from the PS3 that don't exist anymore. Lucky thing I was able to do a system transfer to get the games. I can still play "The Simpsons Arcade" on my PS3 but how much longer in case my PS3 breaks? IDK

Physical has the same drawback too though. If Best Buy or Target decides they're not going to stock new (or used) copies of The Order 1886 or Horizon Zero Dawn, they could easily do do and of course will not tell you in advance.

Which depending on how much their server operating costs are wouldn't necessarily be cost effective.

It's actually a half-truth since of course the issue is if the service that you download the game or content from is still active. And if you do anything to have the account that was used to download the content banned or stolen. And then there's the rare occurrence of games that can become "unplayable" even if you've already downloaded them.

In the interest of fairness the PS3 debacle, The Sony Studios leak, The PSN Hack all that happened before they moved to California.

This is also something that preceded the move to California and after all this time still hasn't been fixed........and of the course the PS4 store has problems too.
