Is this a standalone novel? Also, the cover seems to imply a female love interest. Is that handled well, or are we looking at more of a predatory lesbian setup here? >.>

It is.

Based on this review, I guess I'll pick it up. Sounds like it plays with genre conventions in an interesting way.

No predatory lesbian.

This is one of my favorite releases of the last couple of months.

Um, neither the synopsis nor Rebekah's review even suggests there are such characters. One way or another, judging by the positioning on the Internet, at least the authors see it as a typical otome harem.

In general, if we talk about queer love interests in straight romance, then you can see that female-focused works are usually more tactful in this than male ones. I literally can name just a few LN, VN or manga for boys where the so-called "gay option" character was not full of homophobic or at least sexualized stereotypes.

Fair point! I'm just used to that particular type of "mine" image being used to convey a very specific type of yuri pairing, so I thought I'd check to be sure. Laughing

I am trying not to be pissed off here; but, really, this is too much.

So I am immediately intrigued by a standalone book. But then I start looking at the details. I can deal with e-format files; but I have a Linux system and it would appear that none of the offered apps are compatible with Linux. Are you serious???!!!

Maybe I'm just missing something here. Mad
Google Play doesn't work.
So apparently you're supposed to buy separate hardware in order to read these proprietary files. That's crossing a red line for me; I don't care how much Rebecca Silverman is impressed; for me, this is a deal-breaker.

That sucks, I'm sorry. Sad Have you asked the publisher? Cross Infinite World is pretty good about getting back to people. (http://www.crossinfworld.com/contact.html) They've also been putting out physical copies, the timing seems to vary, but usually a few months after digital.

(It makes me sad when people can't read books, and this was part of my concern with the rise of digital-only or digital-first publishing.)

Bookwalker's Web app (get some free samples to see if it works for you?) is decent for providing eBook content within a web browser with customizable layouts (colors, font size etc. They do *not* provide good eReader support however).

Also if you can somehow get iTunes working, Cross Infinite World's publications on the iBooks store tend to be DRM-free.
