Nana and Monster also made the list. It's kind of sad how the association was biased towards the Amerimanga, though.

EDIT: My mistake, I was talking about a different list. I still think you can see the bias in the number of "manga" were picked that were OEL or manhwa, though.

Nana and Monster are not in the top 10. They are simply 'recommended'.

They weren't biased. It's their opinion on the top 10 graphic novels, not top 10 manga. Not all graphic novels are manga.

But Nana was on the general list right? Thats still good though.

Being put on the top 10 list is really important for circulation in a library because librarians will make things high on the list more visable (Generally). Having Death Note on there is fantastic, it says to me that people are beginning to take manga more seriously.

Wow. Some really great books on there. Somewhat wish there was more manga, but Deathnote is great. Seeing Demo is awesome. Seeing two Brian K Vaughn books makes me happy. Seeing Nextwave on there is confusing yet cool.

I am however disgusted by Identity Crisis being on there. The mystery is a piece of crap. The treatment of the heroes wants to be Watchmen, but ends up with no respect or inteligence. Plus it's the DCU book that took one of their lighter characters, raped her (almost on panel!), and killed her and burned her body. Plus it was a rape only used as a shock value plot device and was never mentioned or delt with again.

To me it was one of the worst comic books of the year, nevermind seeing it on a reccomended book list for teens!

It's actually a very good, non-bias list. It didn't hype manga too much and it didn't dismiss American comics.
