Keep far away from the total nonsense that goes on in the present-day timeline or the sci-fi pre-history and we might get at least one winner in this wild bunch.

The 3 Kingdomes period is a good setting for an anime or toon but I won´t be surprised if this is how the long demanded by fans feudal Japan setting comes about. Was Nobunaga a Templar? Yes: https://assassinscreed.fandom.com/wiki/Oda_Nobunaga
So was Hitler: https://assassinscreed.fandom.com/wiki/Adolf_Hitler
This canon is... yeah.

Anime and "Animated"? I'm sorry, but if Ubisoft's spokesmen can't even get the terminology correct, then they have no business trying to give a franchise like Assassin's Creed a full-length animated series. No matter how much I want Rayman to get another "cartoon or animated" series instead, it's just not worth it.

So this is on top of the live action series.

Netflix throws all their adult animation under the “anime” label and animated is either Western comedies or kids shows. What they seem to be saying is there will be a kids series and an adult one.

You serious? It seems that it would be one in which they use the proper terms in using anime for those animated mainly in Japan and animated those made in the States.

For perspective, they called Masters of the Universe Revelation anime. When I hear "anime", the first thing that comes to mind is usually not "Kevin Smith."

Doubtful that’s going to happen as much as a fraction of the fanbase hates the modern stuff and the sci-fi stuff (which is laughable) it’s still apart of the game’s identity......just like the historical inaccuracies and English being the common language regardless of where the past stuff is located.

Normally and technically, yes, but like Beatdigga said the term anime has become a marketing tool in the American animation sphere.

Which begs the question what the animated version will be like. A parody/comedy in the vein of Rick and Morty?

It was fine for the first set of games, when it was fairly straightforward and simple concept: Desmond and his ancestors. But once Ubisoft wanted the series to basically shift into a "open world series set in random historical set piece" with Unity it pretty much threw the baby out with the bathwater and now I would agree it makes zero sense these days, hense why they did away with the "needing Desmond to read the memories" thing. If you stick to the games before Unity, basically Altair, Ezio and the Kenways, it's perfectly sensible.

"Anime" likely means some cheap Polygon Pictures garbage pumped out in a year.

Netflix made deals with a bunch of studios so they wouldn’t have to work with those clowns anymore.

Sadly not before they get to ruin Pacific Rim beyond any hope of repair.

Assassin's Creed for all intents and purposes had been open world since game 2 (never played the original) all they did was expand the sandbox.

I mean considering spoiler[Desmond wound up roasted to a crisp in Revelations,] in addition to the fact that they had already established long before Unity the fact that the Animus could be used on almost anybody. They kind had to move on from him.
