Awesome. I'm actually one of the few people who don't think that Isayama's art is terrible. I do however really dislike the shading/shadow that he uses. But in full color, those shading actually don't look half bad.

Isayama's art certainly isn't great. But you can tell that it's not a result of someone slacking off. The hard work and effort is evident. It's good enough, and colouring the whole thing would certainly help from the looks of it. Though at this point I'd rather buy the complete anime.

Somehow I was under the impression that the manga already ended, probably because the final season was announced. But since a definitive end date hasn't been announced will the anime really be okay?

It will be okay, wouldn't be the first time such a thing has happened to a series.

The manga is very close to the end. Both the manga and anime will end around the same time. The anime staff already had access to Isayama's final storyboards, so they should be fine.

One of the producer's tweets is an image of one of the anime's scripts with the legend "The Final Season: Part One."
Make of that what you will.

Color will definitely help how the art is presented, this is a good change overall, plus it will make some of the most gut-wrenching (pun intended) moments a lot more striking in the manga.
