Why? Because it will be only on Funi, right?

Haven't heard it will be exclusive to Funi(?, hopefully not), but if it is, it's unfortunate in the sense that the rest of us who're outside the designated areas are going to watch it on the 'high seas' instead of on a legitimate service...

Sorry but Wakanim is not good for me because in my country, Wakanim is in Russian and they have RU subs/dubs instead English subs/dubs.

It's an Isekai.
That's unfortunate.
I could also say something about a lead character named Rude Gray Rat but I stopped caring after Isekai

Thats overly dismissive of the pioneer of the Modern Day Isekai, as well as that because its the pioneer, its actually does some things differently then most others that come after it.

Because dismissing an entire genre is logical and not childish at all, right?

I've seen people call mushoku tensei this but I'm pretty sure re:zero, shield hero, knight's & magic, and even isekai cheat magician debuted on narou before it.

Of those, Knight's & Magic(2010) is the only one not in same year as Mushoku Tensei(2012). A more apt example would be Zero no Tsukaima(2004). This is for novel propers, not up to date with the timetables of their respective webnovels...

Not for what I'm talking about. Of course there were isekai in the early 2000s, which is where I would place zero no tsukaima. But what @AsuraTheDestructor brought up was modern isekai. The ones that follow the more recent structure (whether they play it straight, parody it or deconstruct).

It's often said MT is some pioneer/grandfather/etc of the current isekai trend, and honestly that always annoyed me, given there were plenty of other isekai that are just as, or a bit older than MT, that many other isekai get their elements from.
I get the impression MT has this reputation, because it was indeed the most popular of the narou novels for a significant amount of time (and is still in the top 10, despite being complete for the last 5 years), and for English web novel readers it was probably a significant influence—at least for me it was the story that got me into isekai web novels in the first place.

I wish people would stop giving the series these dumb titles that say nothing about the series itself.

Yup, announced back in October.

As for Mushoku Tensei -- admittedly, no, it did not popularize isekai stories on Narou. This snapshot of their all-time story rankings from a week before MT debuted makes that clear -- here's the top 20 stories:

  1. Slave Harem in the Labyrinth of the Other World
  2. The Ideal Sponger Life
  3. Arcana Online (doesn't say "isekai", but the tags include "VRMMO" and "can't log out")
  4. In the Land of Leadale
  5. Record of Wortenia War
  6. Knight's & Magic
  7. "Free Life" (some kinda isekai rom-com involving a VRMMO)
  8. I Am the Only One Who Knows This World Is a Game (isekai'd into the world of an RPG, where every problem and solution comes from the original game's design and programming being unbelievably jank)
  9. Only Sense Online
  10. "Next Life" (tags include isekai, VRMMO, reincarnation, and harem)
  11. A Dragon Slayer's Everyday Life
  12. (something about beasts and rampaging that I don't think has even had a fan translation, but "isekai", "harem", and "cheat" are all in the tags)
  13. (isekai'd from a bicycle I think?)
  14. "Blade Online" (doesn't say "isekai", but judging from the synopsis an SAO ripoff)
  15. Monogatari no Naka no Hito
  16. "New World" (Google Translating the synopsis suggests MMORPG isekai with a cheat and a harem)
  17. Re:Monster
  18. (Sengoku-like isekai involving onis)
  19. Log Horizon
  20. (synopsis and tags are frustratingly vague but yeah it's isekai)

15 of them have 異世界 (isekai) in the title, description, or tags; several of the remainder are clearly isekai anyway or at least SAO-alikes. Five have 転生 (reincarnation) as well -- this blog post traces that particular trend to a Narou novel called "Reset" that got a pro release in 2010.*

What is true is that Mushoku Tensei was tremendously popular -- I think it may well have been more popular in its first months than any story on the site ever had been before, and it sustained an impressive amount of popularity long after it was the hot new thing. And, yes, that it was one of the first Japanese webnovels to get an English fan translation, one that practically exploded onto the scene in mid-2014 to the extent that even with the anime coming, Google Trends results in America still haven't reached their September 2014 peak.

EDIT:Oh, actually, you know one thing that Mushoku Tensei might've popularized, though I couldn't swear to it? The now-cliche idea of the trigger for the reincarnation being getting hit by a truck. Not that the author came up with that either, of course; I suspect he got it from Yu Yu Hakusho.

---

*The author deleted it then, much like what happened with Mahouka and a number of other stories, and I can't seem to find any trace of the original version online -- though I could swear I was able to when I looked a few years back. Maybe something to do with how Narou started blocking the Wayback Machine for story pages? Official release is still going, though.

What I find really interesting is that right around the time the reincarnation fantasy trend was gaining steam in Shousetsuka ni Narou, the English-speaking Naruto fandom got one of its most popular fanfics in the reincarnation fantasy "Dreaming of Sunshine", which spawned a minor wave of imitation fics.

With the title and synopsis, I was expecting the promo to be comedic. Looks great.
