Well I know Microsoft is hoping that this is a hit and that people are swayed to buy a 360 and get the game. Because I know that Microsoft is hurting in Japanese Market, and now with the other big boys having their consoles out Microsoft needs to pull out all stop in order to try to get some market shares in Japan.

The game isn't nearly as popular as it would be on any other system. It's not even in the top 30 games anymore. I think it sold about 80,000 its first week out, but I haven't seen anything on it since. I do believe Mistwalker is even looking at remaking the game for the DS already. Makes me wonder how successful all of this Blue Dragon spinoff stuff is actually doing. It certainly doesn't seem to be doing a very good job at translating sales of the 360.

That's where you are VERY WRONG. Blue Dragon is as popular as its going to get (Being on the 360 and all >_>). Would you buy a $400 for just ONE game? The reason why more games aren't being sold is because there are no other games for 360 that anybody in Japan would want (I am pretty sure I remember reading on a site that most of the people who bought Gears of War also owned BD).

Have you seen how popular Blue Dragon Ral Grado is? It is DIRECTLY under Bleach right now in WSJ (4th postion in popularity).

They're thinking of a spin-off or sorts on the DS, based on sales in the US:

I think it was successful in its own way. Heard of the of the makers will be happy if it reached 100,000 copies, so 80,000 is alright.

That's what I was looking for. I wasn't sure how Blue Dragon WAS performing to make sense of all of these spinoffs. I know the game itself isn't performing terribly well, but I guess there are no problems if the franchise is doing well and they're not just throwing money down a hole.

I do believe the game would've sold at least five times better on the PS2 or DS. For the kind of game it is and just how it had all of that outside stuff from it, it needed to be a game that sold 360's like crazy. But who knows, maybe having games like Gears of War selling modest/blockbuster for 360 amounts will be a start, and Blue Dragon II on the 360 is the true blockbuster.

I don't see why Ral Grado is popular. I LOVE Takeshi Obata. Death Note is my favorite anime/manga of all time, but Ral Grado flat out sucks. It would be good if the main character had something else on his mind besides boobs. It's annoying.

Studio Pierrot doing the Blue Dragon anime? Commonly one would think a studio like Toei would take helms seeing as Toriyama's previous works have been brought to life by them. I wonder if they're going to take the same direction as Toriyama or something completely different. Either way, it'll be interesting seeing the finished product.

Now if we could just get them to move on to Chrono Trigger...
