I get the feeling this series is meant to be a direct sequel to the TV series rather than the OVA, based on the text design and the very familiar-looking sportscaster (who surely can't be the same guy, since this takes place literally a hundred years later). And up until now, I thought the image of Kanata was Akari, although there could still be a chance they're related due to that similarity (maybe it'll be a 'surprise'?). All in all, as a fan of this one particular title that was my gateway to anime (that and 'Tenchi'), I'm looking forward!

A Wong family member whose perseverance would seem to be heroic? I don't doubt the possibility... no, no, I actually doubt the possibility. But that's the family, Shelley herself may be of higher standing.

Either way it should be interesting as Lanpha was one of my favorite characters of the original series from her sheer determination... to be worthy of her name/family/ego.

I have some questions... and some further questions because I remember what happened in the last few episodes of the TV series and it is something that can happen again. On a larger scale. With greater impact. A number of the new characters have designs that remind me of previous characters.

Still, what a weird process. The anime is an adaptation of a manga that's a sequel to the TV series that was an interpretation of a franchise?

Technically Pioneer released it in the US, not Geneon. It preceded the sale of the anime division over to Geneon.

Also, no mention of the DiscoTek re-release of the series? I always feel like they get left out when ANN gives a release history of a show in the article. I've seen it happen multiple times...
