This...is a terrible idea.

I just participated in a Comic City event last weekend (missed the deadline to get a refund and wanted to try to recoup SOME losses), and it was absolutely dead--and that's when everyone who COULD go/WANTED to go DID. The tables weren't even half full, and while I don't usually sell too much (I do fandom-related crafts, like resin jewelry and such), I do get decent traffic past my table. I got maybe five people wandering by in the area for what is currently a rather popular fandom.

No one is selling at these events. No one is buying at these events. I'm not even sure a lottery will be necessary. It's Comiket, yeah, but...if no one buys tables to sell their merch, then people won't have much reason to go.

Just cut the losses and wait for the vaccine to start rolling out instead of trying to make Comiket happen in the middle of a pandemic.

You honestly think not many circles will submit applications for Comiket? Seriously? COMITIA135 which will be held in February had too many applicants. Recent smaller doujinshi events seem to be having no issue whatsoever in getting circles to participate and getting people to come and buy.

I know it's hard to fathom, but Japan is not America.
