Loving this show so far. The, err...durability of the characters pushes the limits of my suspension of disbelief, but it's still a hell of a lot of fun to watch.

The master and apprentice Executioners (a.k.a. the Dark Lords of the Sith with their lightsabers) cracked me up also.

What do you get when you cross five super criminals, two not-so-super criminals, a whole lot of neon lighting, and a talking cat!?!

Girl Genius, the adventure comic.

Ok, so I got that Kanto and Kansai are now separated by a no man's land that only the Shinkansen can safely pass through, but why don't they just go around that by sea?

I'm sure there's probably local political commentary here that I won't pick up on

I would just like to point out that in Episode 2, it was mentioned that spoiler[Kanto was responsible for blowing up Kansai with a nuclear bomb, but also played an important role in rebuilding it, and the people of Kansai viewed Kanto people as their gods ever since. Sounds more like a reference to the Japanese' endless idolization of America post-WW2 rather than local politics.]

Did Doctor sew spoiler[her head fully back on or only mostly back on? Not that it makes much of a difference because she should have been dead after she lost her hands.] Cutthroat alone should be too much for anyone to believe. He's a serial psychotic serial killer who's just one of the group. I used serial twice because he's super serial.

I'm... uh, watching this series. "Enjoying", "entranced".... enduring? I'm enduring this series so far. I don't hate it, I just wish it wasn't as dumb as a bag of hammers.

I think even that is thinking too much for the show, this is really only sustain by rule of cool and the moment that stop it'll fall apart. I liked when they were on the bus and the show just went "Boring! Activate exciting mode!" just to keep things moving along.

This anime-original production is the first television series produced by game developer Too Kyo Games, a new studio founded in part by Danganronpa writer Kazutaka Kodaka.

Correction. This anime is produced by Pierrot and a collaboration with Tookyo Games. Pierrot producer, Sadahiko Tominaga, invited Kodaka (they were college buddies) to make something together in 2015. Tominaga deserves a lot of credit as he was the one that organized the team for the anime.

Calling it now, spoiler[Ordinary Person has something to do with the two children in the OP. And she's probably an executioner who "sealed" away her memories. You can't tell me her weird reactions to doing wrong and seals on her body in the ED mean nothing.]

She works ( now worked) for the Seal Department. You see her ending her shift at the start of episode 1.

My first thought was "The Usual Suspects" but then I immediately corrected myself to "Total Recall".

So it's probably both. Second to last episode: Total Recall. Last episode: The Usual Suspects. Let's face it, you start yourself in a hole when your premier episode is "Se7en".

I imagine that particulars of the war and the power dynamics will grow clearer as our “heroes” hijack the Shinkansen and, presumably, find their way into Kanto.

If the point is to steal the vault and whatever is inside it then the last thing the plan should involve is making it to Kanto... unless the real plan is to smuggle the Se7en into Kanto.

Tell Cutthroat that your blood is blue and he will leave you alone.

The executionar spoiler[lopped off her hand and slit her throat. So she still had a fully functioning hand and a head on her shoulders.]

So spoiler[She's either the cat/Mastermind, a very dangerous executioner trying to catch the strongest akudama, or both]. Either way, the endgame will definitely be fun to watch.

Yeah, I think that there is a very strong that Ordinary Person/Swindler is an Executioner who is working undercover. And I will go so far as to guess that she swindled herself into that position to, just so her character will be a swindler, who pretended to become an executioner, who pretended to be an ordinary person who is pretending to be a swindler, which is a pretty dumb theory and over complicated. I was mostly suspicious that she even found herself where she was, that I bet it was not luck, the thing about undercover agents came pretty much just before she was working as an undercover deliverer, and for someone supposedly so normal she was surprisingly effective. Somewhat like Hacker might have even been right to guess that she is faking some things.

Hoodlum is also a strong possibility, he can also give some of that energy that how ineffective he is might actually be a front, while actually being far more smart.

I hope there's no big secret backstory to Swindler, it's way more funny that she's just some rando rather than her being some secret something. Plus it makes no sense that she would do alone introspection moment if she wasn't a normie, and I hate when a show big reveal require the show to outright lie to us (I'm still salty about heavy rain).

I'm thinking its Hoodlum that's the plant, not Swindler. Swindler is too obvious IMO, and her being exactly what she seems to be would be *much* more amusing in the long run. Another good episode, though. While I suppose there will be a significant body count later on down the road, I kind of hope that doesn't happen for a while, because I think all the characters are pretty fun to watch.
