These folks must really like Christian Bale. Both of the nominated movies starred him.

I am hope The Girl in the Fireplace might win, though if Howls or Batman Begins win I'd be happy too I suppose. I am not the biggest BSG fan simply because I keep missing episodes and it is one of those shows you have to watch religiously in order to know what is going on.

I've never seen Doctor Who, but I like BSG. I'm way behind though. I've just recently started renting the first season, and the nominated episode is from season 3.

I'd probably like BSG if I didn't keep missing episodes. I can't watch it on TV at the moment anyway, thanks to the Virgin Media/BSkyB row http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6405549.stm if you get the chance to watch Doctor Who you should! Lots of fun and really quiet poignant sometimes. Honestly, given that Batman Begins and Battlestar Galactica (one of the best comic book adaptations in recent history, and one of the best remakes/TV shows in general in history) are in the running, I'm gunning for those two. Howl's was all right, but it's not as good as either of those. Doctor Who was sort of enjoyable years back, but the recent ones really border to being pretty good rarely (Dalek and most of Satan pit 2 parter, The girl in the fireplace), the average (cybermen, one or two others), and absolutely terrible (the rest), filled with annoying pop culture references, bad writing and a terrible cast (I'm sorry but Britney Spears will date a show more than a guy wrapped in cellotape with a toy gun ever will. One is out of nessecity, another is an avoidable annoyance). |

That was a rumour she's not actually been cast. Unless less you were talking about the throwaway reference in The End of the World, if so... it's on the same level as the Beatles reference in one of the first Doctor episodes. It's not monumental to the plot. |

I've actually never seen even a second of Battlestar Galactica, even though it's showing on the Sci-fi channel at the moment. I suppose that means my opinion is a bit biased, having not seen all material. As for Batman Begins, I thought it was alright, but I don't think it's a worthy recipient. My favourite batman movie/adaptaion would have to be Batman Forever. Jim Carrey was hilarious as the riddler, particuarly in the scene where he goes around blowing up the bat cave.

No, you both sort of haven't really gotten what I'm saying. Yes, I mean the reference in the End of the World, but that was an example. References to Ghost Busters, Elton John, Chavs, and god knows what else. Also the fact that over half of the stories take place in England, in modern day, killed the appeal of a ship that can go anywhere, any time. I mean sure, old Who episodes relied on abandoned quarries and what not, but there was still that sense of actually, I dont know, going somewhere, doing new things, meeting new people etc. Russel T Davis has gone on record saying that he isn't going to do that, and his idea of "exciting" is maybe filming in Manchester. Others have said it before, but I'll say it again, he's basically trying to be Englands Joss Whedon, except that he's just... well, crap. Stick to Eastenders and Queer as Folk please

Eh, each to their own I suppose. Personally I love it. Though I do agree it would be nice to see less Earth-based stories. |

Unfortunantly I don't share your blatant hatred of any modern pop culture. Sure, Joss Whedon isn't a terribly good writer, but atleast he can put something together without making it seem as tacky as it is, whereas Davis... well, that's a given. |
