Getting Tales of Symphonia the Animation for legal streaming is a godsend, considering the other adaptations minus Tales of Eternia can be streamed legally. Hopefully we can get a physical release in the near future.

I happen to have Morning Moon of Midday on blu ray. It's kind of confusing because you need the knowledge of what happens in the 2004 series, but it's a reboot so nothing in it applies and all the characters act completely different. I still remember finding it pretty good though, I'm glad it's available elsewhere now.

Awesome!! The Tales of Symphonia OVAs are great, even if they're not exactly faithful to the game! And man, since Discotek just announced they have the Tales of Phantasia OVA, I really hope they manage to get Symphonia as well! Very Happy Please make it happen!!!

That's a shame about Tales of Symphonia: The Animation not being available outside NA. I'm interested in checking it out, it would be nice to see some of the games cutscenes realised in high quality animation. This seems to be the case for a lot of older content that CR puts up.

Crunchy is on a roll (pun intended) with these older licenses!

Considering Symphonia was added along with a whole slate of old shows from Discotek I don't think there's any question that they've already licensed it and were the ones that provided it to Crunchyroll.

It is unfortunate, though not too surprising. Most of the old shows they put up come from Discotek, who almost exclusively focuses on the US market when it comes to streaming rights.

At the time of this post, it looks like CR removed all episodes from the show's page. It seems CR and Discotek are aware of the missing subtitles.

EDIT: CR has reuploaded the episodes and they all have subtitles now.

I do wonder why they haven't formally announced them themselves yet? Maybe they're planning to later, or did this get leaked without their consent?

This isn't the first time a Discotek-licensed anime suddenly appeared on Crunchyroll before an announcement was made. Legend of Black Heaven was given the same treatment, as was Tales of Phantasia over at Amazon Prime, & even Saiyuki Reload just a couple of days ago.

Discotek just tends to hold off on making official announcements for license rescues until a home video release is ready to confirm, and in Symphonia's case it was probably licensed alongside Phantasia, so it just came out streaming first. I wouldn't be surprised if we get an official announcement for both at the next "Discotek Day" event.

I have been waiting for 14 YEARS to finally see the Tales of Symphonia OVAs in the USA. Anime cry 14 YEARS. Finally my time as come!!

This gives me (some) hope that maybe one day I can own this anime, and stick it right next to my GNC copy of Tales of Symphonia and my PS3 Limited Edition Tales of Symphonia: Chronicles box.

Symphonia is still to this very day, my favorite jrpg of all time.

Ooooh! Since Discotek mentioned they've been starting to do dubs for movies and short series (Anywhere from 8-13 episodes long), I wonder if they'll do a dub for Symphonia and try to bring back most of the game cast?! Awww, that'd be awesome! Especially since, what with the new Memories dub being done by two dubbing studios, NYAV and Sound Cadence, Discotek can actually justify doing that now!

I was wondering if they might release it with a dub, and how much of the cast they might get back.

The Dawn of the New World recasts might be more practical (and kind of fitting as far as letting that cast be involved in an adaption of the first game) than the original game cast.
