This is another series that's gonna blow up once the anime hits. I also expect Jigokuraku to achieve some good manga numbers once it gets animated. Which is kinda crazy considering that Jump alone had Kimetsu no Yaiba and Jujutsu Kaisen as recent huge hits and is now likely going to get another big series + the Jump+ series (Jigokuraku, Spy X Family and Kaiju nº 8).

I have to say, this manga was really effin' good.
Like Deadpool mixed with Spawn. Darkly satirical too. If MAPPA can give it the balls-to-the-wall treatment of Jujutsu Kaisen's action animation and the design work of Dorohedoro and pairs it with the right kind of OST for a mix of rock and horror, this anime, even if it's just a 'Part 1' Season would be an insta-purchase. Nailing the comedy just right will also be vital. I don't know if it'll be too adult/violent to be a major hit or if you could tone it down to say... Demon Slayer levels of gore... but I feel it's better served with the Hellsing treatment where the crazier it is, the better. Either way, I'm in. But I really really care that this turns out absolutely perfectly. |
