I wonder why Funimation made this dub a priority when we all keep egging them on for something else.

Fans don't get to decide what gets dubbed, at least for Funimation.

Lol, that makes me remember when Akame ga kill was airing.it was on episode 14 or so. I sent sentai as a joke a tweet to better dub it or ill kill them. And they actually responded to that saying a dub was in the works. Which wasn't made public yet xD

These kind of comment always make me laugh when we 1. Never know how these things happen the scene 2. How many shows they can dub at the same time 3. Covid affecting voice works heavily.

If its took 2 weeks during pre-covid to dub 1 episode how long do you think it takes now? 1 month? How much data do they have when making their decision? What is currently being dubbed? But yeah they don't know what *fans* want, sure.

I may have spoken too generally. Fans might influence what gets dubbed through streaming numbers we aren't privy to, ratings for a specific show on their website, or what's been hyped prior to airing. Farafra's comment about "egging them on" to dub something else implied to me that people are pestering Funi, either through Facebook or Twitter, to dub a specific show, which is probably less productive than the other methods I listed above (I've seen people on FB constantly telling them to dub the latest Love Live). But hey, I could be wrong. Who knows. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not gonna derail the comments any further with talk of what does/doesn't get dubbed. Skate Leading Stars wasn't a bad show, I think I was just expecting more.

They did something similar last season, when Assault Lily Bouquet was dubbed. I don't know whether there's contractual obligations, ADR directors having some discretion in choice for what they dub, or just the best utilization of the resources they have available the moment a director finishes a show and is ready to begin another.

I get you're disappointed other big shows from Fall or Winter haven't premiered yet - I am too, but they are still doing *a lot* - so idk how fair it is to expect more right this second.

They've released 42 simuldub episodes this month so far, and 48 episodes through dropping a whole season. So that's 90 episodes in just over 2 weeks released, excluding the one piece drop at the beginning of the month. As far as I'm aware, is a lot from them, even pre-COVID-19.

Don't know if you were referring to me directly, but I'm not disappointed in the shows that haven't premiered yet, I was disappointed with the execution of Skate Leading Stars as a whole.

I would guess that contracts and streaming numbers matter a lot more than social media posts. If that were the deciding factor, Isekai Quartet 2 would have been done a while ago.

Based on what we've been seeing lately, Funimation has had a lot going on in the background, such as outsourcing dubs to other studios, even LA ones, to get dubs done for shows from 2020. I get where you're coming from though. Strike Witches 3 had that weird situation where episode 1 was dubbed, then the season was pulled with an explanation that they would come back to it later (I think they mentioned Winter 2021). It's March now, and no sign of it. Considering how weird that was, I'm sure a contract caused them to have to wait, and odds are they couldn't stick with the plan. Personally, I'm kind of hoping that recent trends mean they'll eventually announce that the whole thing is ready at one time.

no, Road to Berlin didn't have a dub when it was pulled from funi. it was only the first simulcast ep. they also only said it would be released in 2021. nothing specific beyond that
