For a manga that pitches humans vs gods, the outcome of any of the fights is fairly unpredictable, wich adds to the appeal.
It's completely comprehensible that still existing religions (as opposed to greek and nordic gods) getting their time on the spotlight get a more careful treatment, but in the end the unpredictability of the fights might suffer as a result.
I don't think the manga ever portrayed gods without their due respect, even when they were clearly antagonists or even comic relief it's because they were always represented as such in various other pieces of literature, spoiler[Zeus] being a strong example.

Believe it or not, but people still worship those. They just don't have that many followers these days.

He is not a U.S. Statesman, the title of the article makes it appear as if he belongs to one of our political bodies or has an official capacity in our government. Am I a Statesman, if I am the President of my local model rocketry club. Using U.S. Statesman also infers he has some sort of political clout, instead of actually being some voice in the wilderness.
