Who are they Kidding, it'll get a second season. Just waiting for more material i guess. They can adapt the whole stroy into an anime since gege is ending it soon.

Would rather have another TV season than a movie imo. Then again, the prequel (Jujutsu Kaisen 0) should be a movie or a series of OVAs

Its more a case of he can't say because he's not been given permission to yet. Given there's a significant arc after this one and the series' increased popular since this started airing I'd be incredibly surprised if this only got one series (look at the recent announcement of the next series of Kimetsu no Yaiba to see that's it not a matter of if but when).

I'll miss JJK for a while but that only means there's more to look forward to when it eventually returns.

More likely that MAPPA just cant keep up with JJK as fast as BONES or Ufotable with their own JUMP series. They are loaded already. Im sure they'll continue, but production is probably not far enough.

BONES made a sub-studio just for MHA

Ufotable is currently only handling Kimetsu and we shall see how good they can keep up if season 2 is 1 or 2 cour.

MBS Chief Programming Director Hajime Yokota thanked the viewers for the popularity of the Jujutsu Kaisen television anime in the broadcaster's late-night Super Animeism programming block, as well as via streaming.

Ehhhhhh, but didn't say here that an audience for anime broadcast late at night didn't matter to the broadcaster? And now we have a broadcaster thanking the audience for an anime being broadcast late at night?

Surely this executive does not know what he is talking about, what authority he would have, right?

About a sequel, I prefer it to be a movie. The quality will be higher, the retractions on violence will be lower, there is more chance for producers to make money. Just be patient.

This show not only gave the manga a gigantic sales boost but it's selling close to KnY levels on Blu-ray and DVD, so a second season is inevitable. They even have a perfect stopping point for it now that the very long Shibuya Incident arc has finally concluded. I guess it's just a matter of scheduling now, and I hope the main staffers aren't scattered to the four winds and working on different projects right now.

Possible manga spoilers:

The back half of episode 23 spoiler[ correlates to chapter 59 of the manga(out of a current 143 chapters so far). Chapters 83 to 136 are -one arc-(53 chapters). There are a couple of shorter, table-setting arcs between there and the one we're on, but after that, we've got a very large slog(I don't really want to use "slog", because it's a great arc that I've enjoyed, it's just a -lot- of stuff happening for a -long- time) of material. It would take a lot more than a 24-episode Season 2 to cover from wherever episode 24 leaves us up to the end of the longest arc(and there aren't really any good stopping points -within- that arc). That arc(Shibuya) could -perhaps- be a movie-length feature, but I could see it unfortunately squeezing things out for time. It also doesn't help that the arcs in between(roughly chapters 65-82) are more-or-less devoid of our main characters, mostly focusing on a flashback and antagonist movements. ]

As we've been getting close to the season's end, I've been thinking about what a satisfactory continuation of the anime would look like, and I still can't place it.

spoiler[One possibility is doing Hidden Inventory as a movie (which seems a bit likely, given recent news) and then folding Evening Festival into Shibuya for a season 2].

Actually, yeah, that would work out really well. Skimming through the rest of this arc, I'm sure that they can cover it all with Episode 24 and it'll leave off at a good point.

Please not a movie. If there IS a movie, at LEAST work on the 2nd season at the same time OR put the movie on the back burner while the 2nd season is produced.

Yeah, if they do a movie it'll be years before we get to see it here. :/

Considering what the Shibuya arc is like, yeah, kinda makes sense they choose to not make any statements for now.

How about if they included some of the backstory arc content in a short OVA series, then concentrated on the Shibuya arc for season 2? That would work better than forcing a shorter season 2, then making season 3 (and potentially 4) the Shibuya arc (keep the quality high rather than stretching it out as long as possible).
