Since it looks like Tsukihime will be multiple games, if they do what it looks like they're doing and update Melty Blood alongside the visual novel installments - that's pretty smart, and should help keep up interest in both titles. Well, for certain people anyway, since we're still hanging as far as Tsukihime localization goes...

I'm very interested in seeing the new Melty Blood's fighting system - there's the usual "it'll be easier yada yada" on the site, but you never know what that actually means.

Personally, I'm looking forward to a complete overhaul, because as much affection as I have for the originals, I, uhhh, came to genuinely dislike a number of gameplay elements, so I'm hoping this manages to be all the good stuff and less of the bad.

Monster Hunter Rise: The only reason I am not playing Rise is because I became a hardcore World player. I cannot let this franchise take over my life again so soon. I can tell though I'm missing out on a lot of fun.

Tekken 7: Players seem happy with Lidia because she's not out of the box busted like Leroy Smith was to kick off S3.

KOF XV: You could hear Latin America blow up when Yashiro was revealed. Also to elaborate on the lore a bit: it's thanks to the plot device that is KOF XIV's boss that the dead are coming back Smash-style for XV. Fans refer to it as "Verse Ex Machina." SNK also drops character design sheets to go with the character trailers, and in Yashiro's Chris and Shermie are cropped out; so they are confirmed & SNK keeps finding new ways to tease us.

Now the upcoming Switch version of Type Lumina makes playing Melty matches in the restroom easier than ever. What a world!

I was waiting for the bathroom joke.

The rumor about those PSN stores closing led me to stop putting off buying Tokyo Jungle, Vagrant Story, and Vib-Ribbon. I'm probably going to be picking up a few more things within the next month as well.

Are there any lists out there of overlooked, download-only gems on PS3?

Extremely excited for new Melty Blood, even if all my mains will likely be gone.
This announcement has me fired up to get back to practicing at fighting games, something I haven't done much of since locals became impossible last year.

Based on the HUD in that screenshot, it looks like the different moon styles will be making a return. I'll be interested to see what other mechanics do or don't come back and what influence we'll see from all the Under Night games French Bread has made since the last Melty Blood. (I certainly hope they carry over its extensive tutorial mode.)

So what happens to DLC when these online stores get shut down? Are they no longer legally available or are they put on the internet as freeware for everyone to download? If it's the former, then so long to video game preservation.

Having a new Melty Blood is great! I loved playing that game back in the day when it, the CCC doujinshi and Battle Moon Wars were the most content you got from Type-Moon. Brings back the days of discussing power levels of DAAs.

As for Tsukihime, I get the game being divided in two. With each route being double the original length, you basically get the same amount of text as the original Near and Far Sides (which didn't include Kohaku's route, originally) but now with Mahoutsukai no Yoru production value which pushed the boundaries of visual novel storytelling to a level that hasn't been equaled since. And Mahoyo only had one route and no choices while Tsukihime will get the full VN treatment. I'd bet the script itself is likely done but production itself will take a while so releasing the Near Side routes now and then giving the players the far side routes at a later date is a good idea which, funnily enough, mimics how Tsukihime was originally released. Besides, between FGO Part 2 entering its final stages and whatever Studio BB is plotting, I'd say Nasu is very likely to be very busy right now so I'll take whatever I can get.

I never played the original Melty Blood, but my interest was piqued a long time ago when I heard that Shiki Ryougi from Kara no Kyoukai was a playable character. I've been super into Dragon Ball FighterZ lately, so I'm definitely in a good mindset for more anime fighters. I'm really hoping I can play as Shiki in the remake.

If the game has a complete edition for it's physical version (generally though not always) the DLC comes on the disc. If not? yep assed out. Though as it is people shouldn't be surprised over the lack of preservation as this has been a issue in the gaming industry for years.

Uh, didn't we already know the subtitle to the Tsukihime remake?

PS3 store potentially shutting down raises another problem due to the CMOS battery.

But how about through illegal means/piracy such as with ROMs and ISOs being distributed around the internet? Wouldn't DLC be preserved through those means and people would probably have to go that route and download and install the DLC to their systems, even if by using software hacks on their consoles? I only delved slightly into 3DS emulation, but I know the patches used for the 3DS mainline Pokémon series games have their patches available to download through illegal means on the internet, so at least that can be preserved and 30 years from now if someone wants to play a copy of one of those games, they aren't stuck with the original version that may or may not contain bugs that may or may not hinder their gameplay experience.

I laugh in the face of anyone who buys DLC -- or, as anyone with a lick of sense, calls it, "Glorified Rental". How many times do people have to be fooled by this before they get it through their skulls: Unless you have a Physical Copy of a thing, you don't "own" squat.

Got an email from playstation today about the store closures, it's not as big a deal as people are making it out to be, you can still redownload anything you already bought from the download list, just can't buy anything new.

What about content you already own?
• You will still be able to download your owned PS3, PS Vita, and PSP content, including games and video content.
• You can download your owned content onto your PS3, PS Vita, or PSP by accessing the Download List on the respective device.
• If you have purchased a PS3/PS Vita cross-buy bundle and have only downloaded either the PS3 or PS Vita version, you will need to download the other version prior to the closure of PlayStation™Store on the relevant device.
• Video content that you own can be streamed on PS3, PS4 or PS5 through the My Videos app, or on mobile devices through the PlayStation™Video app.
• You will still be able to re-download and play game titles you have claimed through PlayStation®Plus as long as you remain a member of the service.
