I can finally rewatch Daily Lives of High School Boys on a streaming service woohoo. I ordered the first volume of the manga this week.

Still no Natsume S4 for the UK Sad

Nice! Genshiken Second is one that I missed and really wish I'd have picked up. It'd be nice if they could also wrangle away the older Genshiken anime entries from Media Blasters so it could have a proper printing available again. I regrettably sold off my old singles + boxes DVD releases of them and am very leery about the DVD-R litebox sets that MB currently has in print.

I'm also kind of disappointed that Katanagatari isn't part of this. It's one of my Top 10 favorites of all time. While I do have the NIS America release of that, it really deserves to be available to others.

I continue to be baffled that no one else has grabbed the license for that. NIS America lost the license a while ago but you'd think someone else would have gotten it by now. Especially since the books are all available in English.

You have Aniplex to blame for that. Aside from Anohana which they later dubbed and released themselves, all of the other anime they licensed out to NIS, including Katanagatari, Persona - Trinity Soul, and Wagnaria, they simply let go out of print with no intention of making them available again.

Yeah hasn't been out of print for many years now, after not that long of a release, makes you wonder why NIS America even bothered in the first place.

Media Blasters discontinued the DVD-Rs late last year due to issues with Amazon so they're releasing pressed DVDs again.

As already mentioned, Katanagatari was licensed before Aniplex started blocking US companies from renewing most licenses (basically before AoA's Madoka releases) so they're the ones to blame here.

I have most (if not all) of these from NISA that I already wanted, but glad to see them rescued so that more people have access to them.

Hopefully Katanagatari gets re-released some how in the future. I'm really glad I was able to pick that up, but I'd love for more people to be able to see and enjoy it Smile

Nyaruko is a title I'd like to see license rescued that I missed. I only watched it long after NISA's releases went out of print, so I'd like to pick it up at some point.

Nice to see Natsume become more accessible. Are seasons 5 and 6 licenced by anyone? I know the movie was picked up by Aniplex but I don't see anything about s5 or 6. (Also sidenote but I hope Aniplex gets the new movie as well).

Seasons 5 and 6 are streaming on Crunchyroll.

Hmm I have a sneaky feeling that funi is going to pick up these license's. I'll even admit that this is a good thing so, more people can finally pick up the shows on DVD/BLURAY.

Ah, interesting! I suppose I either missed that piece of news somehow or didn't fully internalize it. Thanks for the tip and good to know. The reason I mentioned those releases before was because I had done a quick RightStuf search to see if the older Genshiken anime were still in stock there in any way and found these Season 1+OVA and Genshiken 2 releases. Since RightStuf usually liquidates their stuff pretty quickly, I usually equate being "in stock" on there as being "in print". Guess they just have remaining stock from last year. Knowing about the discontinue and baggage attached to the DVD-R releases, I'm kind of surprised that RightStuf hasn't either deeply discounted those permanently or just otherwise ditch their stock in some way.

And yeah, kind of a shame about the apparent "Aniplex Jail" situation with Katanagatari. They should either release it themselves or let someone else license it. I parted with the old NISA release of AnoHana when I divorced since I think it was technically a gift to my ex at some point so I let her have it; I gladly picked up the Aniplex USA release after that came out.

NISA never dub their anime license till 2013 where they said on a expo, that they were looking into dub anime, they dub most of the anime like Love live, Toradora and Nagi no asukara. however they never dub anime anymore like Nichibro, Kimi ni todoke, Hanasaku no iroha, and Funimation had NIS anime but will Funimation dub those undubbed anime ?

Thrilled to see Daily Lives of High School Boys back on a streaming platform. If there's even the smallest chance this series gets dubbed, I will be overjoyed. Still one of the funniest anime I've seen in years.

Agree with the sentiment that they should get the first two seasons of Genshiken. I'd like to share the show with a friend, but I'm not sending him my DVDs across country lol
