It's interesting that Konami did this so soon after saying it would participate. Considering how clueless Konami seems to be these days, I could see them not checking to see if anything was ready to show until now. The other speculation I've seen is that the rumors of what they are working on are for the Playstation, so they might have realized that if all their reveals are in a Sony conference, it was pointless to do E3.

I mean just this bit has been the norm for quite a few years now, with companies realizing they can just host their own individual shows more/just as successfully. Personally, I've never really been into the game show deal, aside from watching certain streamers react to them. Even the recent showcases for RE8 have been the standard John/Jane host just heaping praise onto the newest thing. It's all just fake feeling and boring. It'd be cool for companies to just drop new titles without the hype and buzz beforehand, and just let the actual game do the talking. If it's good, then you get the reviews and praise afterwards.

That’s more to blame on the gaming media more often than not. Plus from a realistic perspective releasing a major title without much buzz surrounding it is a good way for your game to have a “stealth” release which can impact sales. Why some in the music industry have been able to get away with doing this you’re not seeing many game publishers doing this.

Those are secondary to sales though. Your game can be good but if it’s not selling at least a million copies depending on it’s budget then it’s pretty much a dud. And god forbid if the game in question was laying the groundwork for a series/further sequels.[/b]
