Actually, the family name of the instructor in question is Takasaka. In the manga, the instructor herself mentions her family name, and the kanji for the family name have furigana. And those furigana are 'たかさか' (Takasaka). Generally speaking, certainly, the family name '高阪' is read as 'Kōsaka', but '高阪' is also read as 'Takasaka'. For example, the name of composer 高阪昌至 is 'Takasaka Masayoshi'.
In the manga, Hanazawa and her ID card say her given name both as 'シモーヌ' and as 'シモン'. 'シモーヌ' is the usual way in Japan to transliterate the French given name 'Simone' into katakana. (The name of French philosopher Simone Weil is usually written as 'シモーヌ・ヴェイユ' or 'シモーヌ・ヴェーユ' in Japan.) So Hanazawa may be a French-Japanese person. |
