Mark your calendar ladies and gentlemen, that's a big date. That titles has to have a pretty good chance of making it to the US along with being aired on [AS], so here's hoping for the best. This could be huge especially with the next DMC game coming out on multiple platforms, I am excited very excited. I wonder if this does well enough if Madhouse will animate more storyline from the DMC series. |

Wait...
Japan gets a theatrical release for Kawajiri's Highlander movie, but we don't? ... ... Well, at least the DVD is out ASAP (like in 2 months here), but still... theatrical releases are good exposure... That said: So they're dubbing the movie in Japanese too? Also, why wasn't Piano No Mori talked about? I'm pretty sure that they talked about it at TAF this year... (But then, no one is interested in the movie...) |

My reasoning for this is......... there can only be one theatrical release! That and perhaps there will be a small release of who knows?
Honestly I didn't know about this until you just posted so....I guess it's not that well known but I will certainly have to check it out eventually. |

Arguably the best response EVER. ======== As for Piano No Mori, not only is it Masayuki Kojima's new project (which he somehow managed to do right after doing the A Spirit of the Sun OAVs... which I haven't seen yet), but it's based on a manga from the same dude (Makoto Isshiki) that did Hanada Shonen Shi (which I talked about earlier this month... I'll revive that thread when I get the VCDs in a few weeks... imported from Malaysia, actually... I wonder if the record companies over there gave them a hard time over the Backstreet Boys' theme songs?) And... really... Hanada is a VERY good show (which can be readily seen... somewhere... it's not very hard to find it though) And it's because of that that I'm dying to see Piano Forest I might import it when it comes out on DVD in Japan (given that there's NO chance that we're getting this)... I mean, as soon as I learn where to get english scripts or something (which I'll probably be doing later this month when I receive The Girl who Leapt Through Time). |

Actually, you may be surprised about how interested people will be in Piano Forest. It may well get the art house treatment, at least, here -- depending on which of the companies gets it. Looks gorgeous. I was lucky enough to get a few sneak peeks at some new stuff when visiting Mr Maruyama during TAF. There's stuff I can't talk about, obviously, at least not until it's announced (wait'll you see what's in the queue!). But there is a reason why people tend to think highly of Madhouse's stuff. It's downright gorgeous, meticulously crafted, and they've currently managed to create an enviable studio of amazing directors. There is an obvious passion to the entire workflow; people are working with and for people they truly admire, or want to emulate, and the talent pool is just downright amazing. And they seem to have fun with what they do. |

An anime version 20th CENTURY BOYS! (which I haven' t read yet because Urasawa didn't allow Viz to publish it alongside Monster!) WOOOOOOOOOO... (optimistic) But then... no... I'm assuming that they actually have to work this out for a couple of years AFTER it finishes, kinda like what happened with Monster (though, 20th Century Boys is almost done anyway, so it won't be much longer...) But yeah... Madhouse has a ton of pretty good directors... actually, given the amount of stuff they come out with every year (not just TV shows, but feature-length films as well), I'm really under the impression that it's actually a very big studio (at least... much bigger than I initially thought it was). |

I decided to check out 20th century and well I won't spoil it for you, I can certainly say that Urasawa has created an another masterpiece. I really hope that Madhouse is planning to do this series, I mean if the Manga isn't over, Urasawa has said that he's only going to do one more volume (#22), so there plenty of material to animate.....I really hope that your right DKL. |

Could be possible, though I wouldn't be too pleased with a 20CB anime because I dislike the anthology quite a bit. However, Yotsuba claims one of the secret titles is an anime adaption of Gambling Apocalypse Kaiji!! Dare I say it? Roooooooooooooooooooon! ... Now, when I heard that, I nearly had an aneurism. Kaiji isn't GAR, but to say the least, it's stunning. A psychological thriller at the apex of creativity. I'm glad to see Fukumoto's works finally getting the attention they deserve. Now, if only we could have a second season of Akagi or a Ten anime... |

My guess as to why the small release is because, unlike TMNT, Highlander has a great "niche" movie factor to it and thus smaller sales are expected. Doing only a US DVD release will probably cover their costs and the release of the movie in Japan will ensure they have a small profit margin.

Delta: There's also a live-action DMC in the works.
Nightfall: I'm assuming Highlander isn't that big in Japan, so the audience needs to be reminded of it. Or perhaps part of the deal involves promoting the original films and shows? |

I would more think that since the movie is going to be in anime form that it would be more suited to be shown in Japanese theatres. |

But, if Madhouse is animating all that, whenever are they going to get around to animating Natural Born Kittens? That press release announcing Madhouse's participation was, like, three years ago. I was this certain that the announcement that Madhouse would finally make Natural Born Kittens a reality would be the highlight of this year's Tokyo Anime Fair.
Why is Madhouse making me wait so long? I was so looking forward to watching South Park be made to look like Noddy in comparison! [shakes fist] At least Natural Born Kittens would probably be more amusing than Bromwell High, not that that would exactly be a Herculean feat. |

Last I heard about DMC live action was that it's still in development, do you know if it actually progressing (unlike Monster) or if it has a script or director. |

It would be cool if they used the T-Rex song as the opening. and it'd be even cooler if Sean Connery did the voice acting in the Highlander anime (yeah, it's impossible, but still.. it'd be badass haha) |
