Interestingly a Funi take on an LA dub.

Good to see they brought the original cast back along with some Funi additions. Although didn't the sub keep the kids' voices the same? It's like they're separating the LA cast from the Texas cast through the time-skip.

I wasn't as concerned as I would be the other way around (an LA studio picking up a previously Funi-dubbed show) but regardless, I'm really happy Kaiji and Jason are returning. This new season's been fantastic so far and I'm glad the second season will keep some continuity for the dub.

The pick for Chief's VA kiiiinda urked me a bit? Especially given they got PoC actors for Marla and Mio? I'm sure Chris will sound great and I appreciate him sharing on twitter how he and the director have really done their research to understand the character and real world history, but it feels like they really should've tried harder with the casting there.

Only Sachio stayed the same in Japanese, likely because he was one of the 3 leads in the first series alongside Nanbu and Joe. All the other kids were recast for their older selves and I think that worked real well to really show how much they had grown up and changed. If anything, it was a weird decision to keep Sachio the same.

Yeeeah I think unless it's specifically Cup of Tea, LA are pretty bad about cast consistency when they get a show FUNi has worked on huh? I'm glad FUNi really put in the effort with stuff like this though. I remember the days of Trigun Badlands Rumble and boy what a difference 10 years makes.

I'm trying to think of the last time there was a full LA recast of something Funimation dubbed first...isn't that usually when it ends up on Netflix?

Is Chris Gurerro NOT a POC actor?

Well I shouldn’t assume and feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but at a glance, no?
Is this another Jeannie Tirado in Carole & Tuesday situation?

I mean, his last name is Guerrero. He's got Mexican lineage.

Why Isn't Bang Zoom dubbing the season 2?
Just because the Show the show was licenced by Funimation
Not viz media this time!
Glad they bring all the original LA voice actors
Unless Funimation shows only supports Cronyism in Voice casting using only same Texas voice actors
Which makes it boring sometimes....

Finally! I am more of a sub person but since I originally watched this dubbed on Toonami & enjoyed the dub I wanted to stick with that for the second season. I didn’t realize how long it would take.

I guess it’s not really that long all things considered but I mistakenly assumed there would be a simuldub for this title.

Yeah, its not super common for franchises to change hands in the first place, but usually if its going from Funi to a studio like SDI/Bang Zoom, a recast is more likely than the other way around. I think maybe the last example that wasn't Netflix (Takagi-san, NGE, etc...) was for the new Detective Conan movie Discotek released, but considering just how old the original dub is... I don't think its a bad decision nor one anyone would fault them for haha.

Doesn't mean the reverse doesn't happen, but nowadays its usually not for a lack of trying or for a good reason (like I don't think anyone was asking for the original Higurashi '06 dub team to return for Gou, and most people were completely open to those changes). I don't want to know what the contracts & scheduling hoops were like for Isekai Quartet.

(Also Sentai Filmworks notwithstanding because I don't think anyone really knows what's going on with them in regards to those Netflix-dub recasts. Most people assume they just don't want to pay for the dub rights for home release, but its really weird).

Megalobox season two is even better than the first and I hope they'll be able to air this on Toonami as well.
