With a premise like that, I am really interested in how it is inevitable going to get super dark and depressing, just like Bokurano. Narutaru was a deconstruction of alien friend stories, Bokurano was Mecha, and I am assuming this will be sports. Or it could genuinely be a happy story.

Did Noririn ever go dark?

I think that Mohiro Kitoh does happy stories... sometimes.
