1 Is the movie titled Belle or Ryū to Sobakasu no Hime, literally "The Dragon and the Freckled Princess"? If just Belle is correct, how did they arrive there, when Belle and "The Dragon and the Freckled Princess" are seemingly far apart?
2 Rafael Antonio Pineda: How can you list his major works and not list Wolf Children 
3 I'm glad it's IMAX, but has anyone watched an anime movie in IMAX? Is it a worthwhile experience? I wouldn't have thought it necessary or super-beneficial, but I could be wrong.

'Belle' is the official English title for the film (being used for its international release in places like the U.S., couldn't tell you who decided on it though). As far as the title's meaning, the main character's avatar in the virtual world is named Belle and the entire story is partially Hosoda's take on Beauty and the Beast whose female lead has the same name and "The Dragon" in the Japanese title being the Beast.

That's an excellent point! Hosoda incorporates a lot of CG into his movies so I'd also take that into account.

I do wonder when it was chosen. Thinking about it, there's a lot of interesting variation with international titles dictated by the Japanese end, from bizarrely mangled translations ("Attack on Titan") to new meanings chosen to complement the Japanese title ("Neon Genesis Evangelion"). This one seems like the latter but more so, with a clever eye to the American market's preference for shorter titles -- I like that it inverts the recent Disney pattern of Japanese titles like "Rapunzel Atop the Tower", "Anna and the Snow Queen", and "Moana and the Legendary Sea".

It's starting to be a pattern with Hosoda's movies in particular as well. The Wolf Children Ame and Yuki -> Wolf Children, Mirai of the Future -> Mirai (sidestepping a pun with this one). The general marketing wisdom in Japan and the US does seem to be flipped: long titles in the former and short titles in the latter.

Japanese would shorten titles anyway thru contractions, which we don't do with English titles unless to make acronyms, so it doesn't make marketing sense to have long English titles
