There will be 2 anime with real robot theme in autumn season (the other one is muv-luv).
It seems that the 4 blocs are China, Russia, US, and UN. |

I'm big into mecha...but first impression is there is too much of a mishmash of ideas that don't blend. I'd need to see more.

The animation looks really fluid, although the main mecha looks very similar to a Gundam (I know it's Sunrise but they could have gave it some different colors or something), the other mecha look good as well, kind of like those from Iron Blooded orphans and Code Geass, and speaking of Geass the story about an occupied Japan it's also very similar. The only thing that looks out of place are those cute creatures.

I'm not sure how to feel about the AI mascots amid the Mecha warfare storyline but I guess it gives the protagonist someone to bounce off and develop a rapport with within his Mecha (I always kind of like that in Meha shows). |

That OP song is good. Had me getting BACK-ON vibes (makes sense since Build Fighters designer is involved). Wait... was that actually BACK-ON with Kumi Koda? Did they make Blank Paper a collab name? I didn't watch past the OP since I didn't want to spoil myself. I have faith in the Fafner staff.

It'll be good to finally have some more mecha. The mecha animation, backgrounds, and coloring style looked nice.
I thought so from the cockpit shot seeing that hair ornament but now re-watching the whole opening I'm not sure LOL. I hope so since it'd be nice to have one piloting, but now I'm doubting it lol. Yeah, it'll depend on the balance with those mascots, but yeah I always enjoy them developing a rapport with their mecha. |
