I know reactions to 2202 were fairly mixed, but I'm still very excited about the next Yamato project! If nothing else, I am one hell of a sucker of these lavishly-animated 1970s designs.

Fluwm, I like new Yamato, but I would Love to see the original Series land on Blu Ray! Yamato minus Leiji Matsumoto is a Huge loss to me.

I'm strongly looking forward to this and have been a fan of Matsumoto's Universe and Yamato since the mid 80s.

The article mentions that this is the first of two planned films. Does that mean that 2205 will not be a 7 movie series that is later broadcast as a TV series the way 2199 and 2202 were?

Correct, it’s only going to be the two movies, I’m afraid.
