This is a fine manga, but I don't think this can take the mantle from haikyuu.
Blue Lock is too power-related. It has the same problem as Kuroko no Basket.

That being said, I am pretty happy that Kaneshiro got his first anime adaptation, but I would have preferred Bokutachi ga Yarimashita instead of Blue Lock.

Wait, This anime is CG ????
IT is definitely CG, and 8 Bit is not a CG-specific Studio. The effects and the Shot were fine. But I don't think they can successfully make a CG sports anime.

How in the world did you come to the conclusion that the anime is CG after seeing that pre-animated teaser (and the staff list)?

The only thing that's 3D are the backgrounds in some shots for more dynamic camera work and the ball ala Haikyuu.

I was a bit worried when I saw it was being done by 8-Bit, but the teaser looks really great! Hopefully they'll be able to keep up some of that quality in the series. Now I gotta go and catch up on the manga lol

Holy moly! That trailer was amazing. The character design and outfits are spitting hot fire like Dylan. Not only that, but my favorite color is blue so its just perfection right now.

Nice. I wanted to start reading the manga before the anime adaptation came out, and it looks like I need to get on that.

I'm sorry, why does every single recent sport series have to be compared to Haikyuu? It's this attitude that made me resent the Hq fandom, with how any mention of KnB quickly devolved into "but it's not rEaLiStIc like haikyuu!!!!" as if superpowers in anime weren't absolutely dope.

Newsflash: Kuroko no Basket had a lot of fans and they're still here, still very happy to watch something that doesnt involve simply tossing a ball around for 10 episodes straight, with everything becoming extremely repetitive by the 4th season. Say what you want about superpowers - at least they keep every episode exciting.

I'm so excited for this! I've loved Blue Lock since people here recommended it and its over-the-top powers are, to me, part of its intense charm. I don't care one whit if something's compared to something else. All I see is another great sports series to enjoy. Rolling Eyes

This looks great, I admit I hadn't heard of the manga so this is completely new to me, now I'm going to go all out to catch up on the reading part before the anime comes out. I love sports anime and I don't have an issue if it's super powered or more about the characters as long as the story is strong.

Wtf? Where is the comparison with Kuroko coming from? Yes, there is some exaggeration but Blue Lock doesn't have any superpowers.

Nobody promotes it like "Haikyuu killer". Not everything can or should be "the next Haikyuu", just like not every shonen has to be "next One Piece". Rolling Eyes it can be just, you know... a good enjoyable show.

How "having powers" in Kuroko is a problem? This is not Slam Dunk, it has no need to be "hyper realistic", just a different take on sports. Someone enjoys it, someone doesn't. It is by itself not "a problem".

What? There is exaggeration, yes, but it's nothing like KnB. People don't go super sayian, or have time eyes. It very much mostly skill and strategy, as the characters improve.

This version of "The Zone" is more a mindset, than a literal power-up outta nowhere. KnB and Prince of Tennis are ridiculous, Blue Lock is not; the artist is just better, and does better dynamic imagery, to better emphasize the mindset of the characters changing, as they get more intense and focus more.
