Damn that sucks, I really hope that won't affect the release of the movie at all. I'm also worried about the second movie which almost certainly hasn't begun dialogue recording. It'd suck for Makoto to be recast and the main band be changed at the very end of the series. Is it that hard not to cheat on your wife after 6 months?

Pretty sure it's going to affect the movie release, but also I don't think it's going to affect anything else. This is the sort of storm in a teacup that will die off if the people involved do some performative atonement and then lie low for a couple of months or so.

All the more so because really, nobody really cares aside of a handful of overly invested individuals and click/ad-hunting media people. Like... was it OK what he did? No. Is it anyone's business other than of the people directly involved? No. Does anyone ultimately care about this more than they care about getting their fix from the franchises he's involved in, or even the characters they love that he plays? No.

Outside of it not being anyone's business but their own, because it really really isn't, there's also the fact it could be totally fake. The "newspaper" in question is a gossip rag that spins plenty of stuff from innocent photos and is the equivalent of treating National Enquirer like a reputable place.

It's horrible how other news places just go with their stories.

Bunshun is pretty accurate when it comes to dating scandals and they’ve also used their platform to expose multiple political scandals. Japanese news actually use them as a reference to get some of their information.

This is what I don't get about cheating during marriage. Why bother filling out the paperwork, then ruining that trust with someone else. Especially if your partner is a big name in an industry.

I love Tatsu but OMG why did he do that!?

Now I feel bad for the movie and fans since things are put on hold because someone wanted to cheat on their married spouse.

Sad I just don't get cheaters...

That's sad to hear, but if the adultery incident with Namikawa Daisuke is anything to go by, nothing will probably happen except for some delays and Suzuki issuing an apology. I wish LiSA the best in the aftermath of the situation.

Even though he cheated on Lisa, I really hope they don't change Makoto's voice. His voice is so iconic that I could not imagine another person voicing Makoto Sad

When i read some comments in English or Spanish anime news sites i end up very disappointed. People is very insensitive and jump to conclusions very easily.

T. Suzuki is only rumoured to cheat on his wife and let me enlighten you: that kind of stuff happens in your family or circle of friends every now and then. It's none of our business.

Sincerely: I got chills on my spine when i read that maybe T. Suzuki was in bad shape or something worse.

Gossip stuff and "social network" era combined are the worst.

I only hope for the best to T. Suzuki and Lisa too.

I want to hear more of Makoto, Ronove (Iruma) or Ranmaru (Uta-Pri).

Be safe everyone.

Cheating isn't illegal but it's still a scummy thing to do, and the reason why it's pretty big is that LiSA isn't a C-list celebrity. Reputation matters a lot in Japan, and while no one is calling for Suzuki to be cancelled IMO, the worst I've seen is Japanese fans worried about how his reputation will affect Free!

Nobuhiko Okamoto also cheated on his wife (and was forced to reveal his marriage through the cheating scandal) and he's still doing pretty fine in terms of career.

I don't even care that much about this Free movie that seems to be doomed since the very beginning. I'm sorry for Kyoani but maybe it's better if they try to make their money with Maid Dragon and leave Free aside.

I hate gossiping stuff that is aggresive and i don't want to read nasty news anymore.

I'm sorry but do you not see a difference between exposing political scandals and hm, let's see... stalking celebrities, taking illegal photos of them and writing trashy articles quoting crap they cannot prove for financial gain? Like the idea that he invited the girl to his home while Lisa was away - literally no way to prove that, but people will believe them if they have a few photos of them standing next to each other on some completely unrelated occasion. Even if everything they say is true, Bunshun is hurting Lisa just as much as Suzuki is by making her private life into national drama and involving thousands of anime fans into it. There are ethical ways of handling cheating and this is not one of them, and I refuse to support an unethical company.

"No one is calling for him to be cancelled"? Have you READ the comments Japanese people have left on his tweets? There's countless death threats, suicide-baiting, people telling him to die or that he's the scum of the earth who doesn't deserve anything good in life. I really don't care if he cheated on his wife - that's between him and his wife - and no one deserves to be told such horrible things. He's a recovered alcoholic, his mental health has always been bad, how do you think this might affect him? There's a rumor he recently attempted suicide and Japanese fans' reactions are "maybe stop running away from your problems??? if you're gonna commit suicide you shouldn't have cheated in the first place!!!" and "he's just trying to manipulate Lisa to not divorce him by making her feel bad for him!!!" 0 sympathy and it really shows you how little Japanese people know about mental health, it's disgusting.

Also I hate the double standard - Okamoto's wife wasn't famous so when his scandal happened, most of the reactions were "oh wow, didn't know he was married but congrats!" not "he deserves to die a thousand horrible deaths". Extremely disingenuous that the reaction is worse just because people actually KNOW the wife this time around.

The movie is already made and done. What good would 'leaving it aside' do? Plus that would be a giant slap in the face to literally everyone else who worked on it, and the fans who have been waiting for it for years.

Free! and Maid Dragon are completely different series with completely different target audiences. It's not like Kyoani has to chose one over the other.

What a stupid comment.
