Some how to my surprise no one mentions that he was the voice of Hudson in the popular 90s cartoon Gargoyles.

You know how you can tell an actor has done something good with their career?

When everyone remembers them for something different. 70's, Lou on the Mary Tyler Moore show, Cosgrove in Freakazoid, J. Jonah Jameson in 90s Spiderman, Up, etc. That's talent, being able to do all these roles and having so many of them stick out to people.

RIP.

And that’s probably how he got the role in 3x3 Eyes. That dub was directed by Greg Weisman at New Generation Pictures, and he recycled much of the voice cast from the Gargoyles cartoon. Surprised

He was also Granny Goodness in the DCAU. Loved him for that character.

I believe Angela's voice actor also did Pai.

Which took some getting used to for me, because 3x3 Eyes was the first anime I ever bought (on VHS -- I bought the two first tapes, and then had to wait three years for them to eventually continue the show), and that one had the old English cast with Eddie Frierson as Yakumo and Reba West as Pai.

Something rather interesting I should bring up, they announced him as a guest for Sacanime Winter 2022 before he passed away. Sacanime Sumer 2021 is actually this weekend and they're not going to have physical guides this year. Man that would be have been so awkward if they didn't. They have sense removed him from the ads 2022 for obvious reasons...

Yeah, Streamline dubbed the first series for VHS, and Orion dubbed the second with the same cast, but never got to the final episode, and New Generation later dubbed the whole series from scratch. Hopefully Discotek gives it a reissue with both dubs, but I hear the show hasn't had a remaster. Geneon's DVDs from 20 years ago looked like crap even for the time.

Well, another sad passing. This time,it's Ed Asner. I remember him from the "Mary Tyler Moore" show as Lou Grant. If I remember correctly, the character was later spun off into a more dramatic series simply titled "Lou Grant" in the late 70's. Later,he played Hudson on "Gargoyles,"Roland Daggett on "Batman:The Animated Series,"and so on. It's a shame he didn't do another anime dub. His long credits as a voice actor prove that. It's a shame he didn't do a Studio Ghibli film. He would have been great in one.
I even remember him doing some segments on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" called "Let's Impress Ed Asner." That was in which he was asked to judge some sort of thing that someone did,I don't remember that too clearly. All in all,it's very sad to see the guy go.

RIP Mr. Asner. You lived a long life. It's a shame to see you go. Sad

A true all-time legend, in both comedy and drama roles. His role in Up was one of the greatest vocal performances ever, and he had a brilliantly funny role on The Boondocks. I had no idea he'd ever done any anime work.

Man, and Pixar just premiered a series of shorts about Dug. That was probably his final role. Sad
