First Blue Period, now Komi-san as well. I guess Netflix jail is a thing of the past now, at the very least there's not much of a delay anymore. So expect a Sony/Netflix duopoly from now on, with a little bit of Sentai, although I wouldn't count on the latter, as they don't give a crap about going international apart from a select few titles.

Surprise Netflix acquisiton! I honestly though it would be between Crunchyroll and Funimation. It's not their first slice of life/romance though.

Considering they seem to be experimenting with a form of simulcast for Blue Period and JoJo Part 6, I'm curious how they'll handle Komi.

Looks like Crunchyroll's Fall anime lineup is already weak and underwhelmed, they lost big anime names like Komi-san, Blue Period, Demon Slayer season 2 and Lupin III part 6.

I have no idea why would you assume so:

The announcement noted that Netflix's debut date for the anime overseas will be different from the debut date in Japan.

Plus 8 dubs - a Netflix "standard" for anything they call "anime", even their own, US-made productions - is a LAUGHABLY small number for a service available worldwide. Used to be 10 for a short time, no idea why it was reduced, but the countries that weren't lucky still have to pay as much as others.

Wow, just almost 1 week after Netflix acquired the worldwide license of Blue Period now they acquired the licensing of Komi Can't Communicate.

Netflix is sure surprising us with their anime licenses lately and on top of that, they manage to beat out Funimation once again following Shaman King 2021, Edens Zero, Blue Period, and now this. I have a hunch that part of the reason for Netflix licensing and acquiring Blue Period and now Komi Can't Communicate for their streaming service is also due to the Sony/Funimation acquisition of Crunchyroll and they need some anime titles that will attract users to subscribe to their service along with changing their strategy to release their anime hence why they are now starting to release their anime shows weekly.

I'm so excited to see this become the next series to be dropped weekly on Netflix following Blue Period and looking forward to which recording studio will dub this, hopefully, it's either Studiopolis, NYAV Post, SDI Media or VSI Los Angeles, but I expect the latter two getting this series.

It wouldn't surprise me if Netflix get's the streaming license for Chainsaw Man over Funimation/Crunchyroll, unless if Funimation counteracts and licenses it before Netflix does.

They've got cour 2 of 86, Muv-Luv Alternative, and The Faraway Paladin.

When it was announced that Jojo Part 6 would debut on Netflix, I already started assuming the extremely high chance that a Netflix Chainsaw Man announcement was on the horizon especially since they made a partnership with Mappa. In terms of censorship, it just makes the most sense to put it on Netflix and it seems like the type of anime that would be as big of a hit as Baki and Castlevania... unless Amazon comes out of no where to swipe it like the Evangelion movies.

So a weekly stream starting the 21st doesn't sound too bad. It seems like Netflix is actually changing up their worldwide anime release pattern.

Are you saying that Netflix got Demon Slayer?

Hmm, well at least 2 weeks is an improvement. Hopefully they will eventually get to simultaneous releases

If the two week delay includes the dub, then this puts them on even footing with Funimation pre-pandemic, where most simuldubs were on a two week delay. They also started to have one or two major shows per season with same day dub releases, so it could be possible for Netflix to eventually do that too.

I’m glad we don’t have to wait months to watch it. Will set a reminder for Komi when it appears on the ‘coming soon’ section. Already set reminders for Blue Period and Violet Evergarden movie
