Hmmm this is a bit worrying. The tight production schedule has probably caught up with the studio. 86 is indisputably one of the best anime to come out this year and I hope it will not end on a weak note. Maybe having a split cour would've been a better approach. Anyway, hope its issues will be resolved without affecting the animation quality.

Uhh wasn't it already a split cour? Unless you mean a split-split cour...which would be absurd

It's not totally absurd. That's what Mushoku Tensei did.

A little disappointing, but hopefully it's giving the studio the time they need to deliver on the second half of this cour. It's been pretty amazing so far.

No, Mushoku Tensei is using a traditional split-cour format. So is 86.

Series that start in the earliest days of a season either run for 13 episodes or end early, and this cour was only scheduled for 11 episodes. Hence an off week sometime during this season was to be expected. While this apparently-unplanned break is disappointing, I'll tolerate it if it helps the series maintain the high production quality it has seen so far. The series should be a competitor for Best of Year honors if it just maintains the quality level it has delivered so far.

I not all that bothered by this. For anime only bro's this must suck though. But since gave in and started reading the LN I don't mind a delay if they can keep up the awesome quality.

Mushoku Tensei's first season was in Winter, but they skipped both Spring and Summer. It was initially planned to return in July, but was delayed to October instead. 86 started in Spring, and only skipped Summer.

Gonna hop in here to clear up any confusion with what I said and say that my original reply was pointing out that A) 86 was already a split cour (started in spring, took summer off, came back in fall)...B) Therefore, my reply towards "match" was pointing out that an anime season possibility splitting a 12 episode run into two 6 episode runs, spread out over seasons,...is absurd. He didn't seem to know 86 was already a split cour, thereby rendering his original comment totally pointless. But I instead asked questions because I wanted to be cute...

I'd rather see skipped weeks than rushed episodes, so that's a good thing imo.
They can take two straight weeks off to pull themselves together for all I care, with this good of a show, I'd rather wait.

You clearly underestimate Studio Shaft then, first Bakemonogatari( into 12 + 3 ), then Fate Extra CCC split into (10 + 3) and now Magia record which is already a split production again splitting the second season into a ( 8 + unknown ) episode.

Shaft is infamous for their shit schedule, so split of a split cour is indeed possible.

More concerned about the health and wellness of the staff working on the show. Hopefully no one will be hospitalized trying to make the deadline.

my worry is if we are going to loose any episodes, some anime's in the past have counted compilation episodes as part of there 13 which means there rest of the season can sometimes be rushed or skip over major plot points.

Since there were only 11 episodes scheduled to begin with, it won't be a problem if there are two down weeks. A third down week would be a glaring warning sign, certainly.
