Nothing to see here, just two manga legends celebrating a huge milestone.

If only they weren't in separate magazines. Conan and OP would make for one hell of an interesting crossover. lol

Anyone keeping track with how many murders there are already in Conan? Laughing

Joke aside, huge congrats. That's quite a feat.

Based on an interview with Aoyama recently, he said something like 300 to 400-ish.

I think rather than why Conan hasn't aged back to his old age, I wanna ask how Conan and co. haven't let being near this many murders get to them yet, if it hasn't already Laughing

Interesting how OP reached 100 volumes first when OP started 3 years after Conan and Conan has more chapters released (reached chapter 1000 back in 2017; currently at 1081), but when you look at the volume contents, you can see why this happened. Conan started at 10 chapters per volume starting at volume 5 (chapter 40-50). Each end number of the volume matched the volume number. Example: volume 6 stopped at chapter 60 after volume 5 stopped at 50. Volume 20 (released in 1998) was the last chapter to cover 10 chapters (ended at chapter 200). After that, Conan released 11 chapters per volume to this day. Once you have 1000 to 1010 chapters released, that is 100 volumes of content, but the 11 chapter format messed that up, and chapter 1000 to 1010 ended up releasing in volume 94 in 2017 and 95 in 2018. Plus, Conan released 4 volumes per year until then end of 2014. Starting from 2015 it released 3. 2018 had 1 volume, 2019 had 2, 2020 had 1, and this year had 2. Despite all said, volume 100 came 1 month after OP's vol 100.

So, when Oda says:

Quote:
"I know how tough getting to 100 volumes is, Aoyama-san! Congrats on 100 volumes of Conan!"

It sounds weird when you have the aforementioned information. If Oda knows about vol 100 then he knew about chapter 1000 back in 2017. Oda's speaking from the perspective of someone who achieved it first (hence knowing how tough it is) and is congratulating Aoyama (because he "also" did it) even though Aoyama technically achieved it before Oda because Conan is far ahead of OP. Just so you know the OP volume-chapter comparison to Conan, vol 99 covered up to 1004 and 100 covered up to 1015.

PS: I'm not saying Oda did anything bad intentionally. Just pointing the wording with the info available. lol Congrats to Aoyama.
