Man! He lived a very productive life. R.I.P. We thank you for all you've done. I pretty much remember a good chunk of these shows. All the buzz about old shows like 'Orguss' coming over but never knew he composed the score for the series. Or 'Macross ~ Do You Remember Love'.

Such a tribute is deeply honored. Crying or Very sad

R.I.P.

Has anyone else noticed the Japanese [at least those related to anime-gaming industry] die of cancer and relatively young [not past 60]....

Me wonders....To me it looks that cancer is very common in Japan and one does not live that long.

I actually used to collect his BGMs back in the LP days. I didn't know he was only in his early 20s during most of those series! It's hard to believe all the Macross staff and cast were so young. I love the Dragonar albums, and wish I had bought them on CD instead since I no longer have a record player.

He also did the music for TechnoBoyagers (aka Thunderbirds 2086) and Project A-Ko Final (aka A-Ko 4), both of which sound exactly like his more famous Macross work.

I used to joke that if you wanted to get the entire Macross soundtrack, you really had to get everything Haneda did in that era, because so much of it blends and mixes together seamlessly and sounds like one truly gigantic work.

What a sad loss. Sad

Pretty sure Haneda didn't do Dragonar... but anyway, look for those CDs on eBay. I found a couple Dragonar CDs that way. There are four of them btw.

Well with all that smoking it's not so surprising but still it's very sad to hear this at the age 58. RIP your music will always be a part of this community and always remembered.

As a big fan of Macross, as well as Orguss, and especially as a believer that Macross' music was better than Robotech's (a long standing debate), I'm deeply saddened to hear this.

It's good to hear that the 25th anniversary concert will be dedicated to him. I'm sure he'll attend in spirit, if not physically.

R.I.P Haneda-san. Your musical legacy shall live on.

I just checked out the encyclopedia and Haneda is ine of two names listed under Dragonar. The intense orchestra music always reminded me of Macross, especially the fast paced stuff. There is one track on the Dragonar BGM which sounds like the "next week" song in Macross complete with punctuated trumpets.
