Damn it! I couldn't care less about the game, but the world deserves, nay needs, another anime season, and this would seem to seriously hurt any chance of that happening

Well, ten years is already a LOT for the gacha game life (and heck, it's around same ten times more than usual), so the ending is inevitable at some point.

This game is probably the next gacha game to die off, at least it had a very good run.

She's alive and well in Granblue Fantasy.
RoB is like the grand daddy of modern mobage, it's both surprising and not so surprising for it to finally end. They received less and less promotion even during Anniv compared to other Cygames games, even when they do get promotion there barely any hype anymore compared to 2015~2016. At least, some of the character designs and stories can be exported to GBF or Dragalia so they aren't completely gone.
