So the digital market is ~60% compared to physical at ~40%, and the gap keeps widening? Well, I guess that's to be expected. Both markets seem relatively stable so far, but it will eventually reach a hard threshold where the effects of this will be felt hands-on once publishing industry takes steps to adjust to a new normal.

I see the effects already when browsing on amazon japan or honto for new titles (and older titles from the 90s to late 2000s). Digital versions are suggested first, print editions come afterwards. Some smaller, niche titles don't even offer print versions anymore, and some older titles can only be purchased as digital versions at the moment, even well-known classics such as Kimagure Orange Road.
