As expected since I've said it in previous articles. It was only a matter of when. If you thought otherwise, you were kidding yourself. Still unforgivable though.

It'll be interesting to see if he will retain any roles or start getting new characters moving forward. I guess he never lost Ban, so that's good. Maybe he'll even get to still play Alan in the My Next Life as a Villainess movie.

It was announced in September last year right? Presumably it is coming sometime in 2023? I do think they want some continuity and he will likely play Alan again.

I'm also interested if he's gonna get back to voice Eve in NieR: Automata anime series - considering Aniplex is involved in production committee.

I'd bet money that nothing will change. It never does. Really, this is how these things always go, and yet people keep making a huge thing about it every time something happens...

You do realize he lost some of his roles not only due to going on hiatus but also because he violated NDA regarding music Oldcodex had been working on?

Glad he is back, but it is going to be pretty hard for him going forward since he is going to have to audition for new roles assuming the ones he got replaced him likely are not going to want him back.

I'm very happy to hear it. He's been a part of my early days of anime and games, won't be a exaggeration to say that he's my favorite male VA. Such a shame with what happened with his role as Anos and Draken, and I was really saddened when I heard that OC was disbanding. I like his music as much as I like his voice acting, I listened to their songs all the time. Though I hope that he might simply just "rebrand" the group and come up with another one and start making songs again.

Long live Noctis!

Bold of you to say "nothing will change" when us Oldcodex fans lost our favorite band over this crap Rolling Eyes If you mean societally/industry-wise then of course nothing will change - people are acting like they want him to take responsibility for all cheaters ever, when scapegoating never works as a deterrent because everyone thinks they'll be better and won't get caught.

Also @ people saying it's "unforgivable" need to go touch grass. Stop playing the victim when you haven't been affected in any way. I literally lost my favorite band over this, something that was extremely important to my mental health, that had made me happy for years and made me want to keep living when I lost the will to fight. Y'all will never understand what it's like to lose something you love so much over a stupid cheating scandal that's a dime a dozen among celebrities.

Except they proved that was false because at the time the tweet saying he "leaked the song by playing it in the car for his lover" was made, the song hadn't even been recorded yet? How about you stop spreading lies? This is 100% cancel culture, they dropped him because of his (hopefully temporarily) radioactive reputation in hopes of avoiding the side effects of the radiation themselves.

You should probably hold the actual person responsible for that break-up, Suzuki, accountable for that then. Or I guess you could continue to make up a different reality where he’s blameless and shout about it in every single thread on the subject.

Oh please. Rolling Eyes One, I'm fairly confident in saying that I've been "observing" for longer than many people here have been alive, and I've grown tired of trying to "influence" ie. talking sense into people. (For that matter I tried doing that this time too, and I got nothing but trouble for my efforts. Hell, right now I'm being condescended to. As I said: I'm tired. Woof woof.)

Two, just what exactly is the change you think should happen? That Suzuki should lose all his jobs and never be able to work as a seiyuu again because he what, cheated on his wife, and that absolutely merits losing his livelihood...? (If yes, I have bad news for you: you've probably talked to a whole lot of people who cheated on their partner at one point in their life. Do you think they should have lost their jobs over it?)

BlueOla wrote:

"Bold of you" - oh my, how pompous! And also, pssst - if you had read what I replied to you would've noticed that I was referring to his career as a seiyuu, also that I wasn't trying to make any moral or whatever judgements, I was just pointing out that his is how these things always end up happening re: seiyuu who are put on hiatus for whatever reason and their long-running franchise roles.

Also, for what it's worth, the argument I've been making all along on this topic is that dude cheated on his wife, and yes cheating is bad, but also it's nobody's business other than him and his wife. And people who kept talking and talking and talking about it only kept making it worse by reacting to, and generating more demand, for tabloid clickbait that just kept the ball rolling and getting bigger, making it more harmful for every person actually involved. Also, while yes, again, cheating is bad, it's not like, scamming people out of their money, or spreading harmful conspiracy theories, or vocally supporting toxic ideologies about other people's identities, or oh, getting caught with erotic material involving actual minors, so perhaps it shouldn't be judged the same way. But hey, this is just me barking.

Uhh, guys, I think there's two things we should consider here:

1 - This isn't cancel culture, this is Japan culture. I agree that whatever happened between him and his wife is nobody's business and shouldn't really influence on his career since cheating is really nothing serious or a societal problem, it's their personal stuff to deal with. But Japan is a place where this sort of "controversy" is enough to run someone's career through the ground, and it has many more dashes of conservatism than "woke" culture, which is what us in the West think about when using the term cancel culture. Just sayin'.

2 - As I said, this is personal business and shouldn't really matter to anyone with an actual life to live. Some of you are talking like him coming back is proof that the industry and the world at large is completely rotten and unfair. Calm down. He's a dude that cheated on his wife, and that's nobody's business but their own, and it's deeply weird for you to root for him to lose his livelihood over it.
