If they're gonna be dubbing the new Ancient Magus Bride ovas, I hope they can go back and dub Those Awaiting a Star into english. It always bothered me that it was dubbed in every language except English. I wouldn't even mind double dipping and buying an "OVA Collection" or something with a new English dub since the original BDs have the ova sub only

It will be really interesting to see what casting looks like for all these shows given the recent rumors(?) that the CR studio in TX (formerly Funi) was putting a halt on remote recording in some capacity. I truly hope we continue to see a mix of local and remote talent being utilized, both with individual casting and third-party studios like Sound Cadence.

Nice, might just wait for the Heroines dub. Can't stand how she sounds so hopefully whoever is directing won't do the same thing in English

Confusing Crunchyroll is dubbing Spy x Family into Russian as I thought they halted their service in Russia due to the war?

There's this as well, certainly I don't wanna be seeing the same names over and over again from CR's local VA pool for the main characters of each show, but I'm also wondering if this will affect casting for sequel shows, like Date A Live or Kaguya-sama.

I assume a third of those dubs will be outsourced because I don't think the Texas studio can handle 15+ dubs.

So if i count right including galactic heroes we got this season 25 dubs. That is like the same amount Crunchyroll and funimation put out pre-covid together. This is going to be an amazing season.

I do hope they can go back and make dubs for: princess connect, laid-back camp, Tsugumomo s2, a place further than the universe for example.

Anyone else got titles they wish they got dubbed?

Ooh, I didn't expect Love Live Nijigasaki 2 to get a dub so quickly considering how long it took for the first season to get dubbed. Looking forward to it! Here's hoping Okratron gets brought back to dub it, since their dub for Nijigaku is great!

I hadn't heard that rumor, but I'll admit it crossed my mind as a possibility with how quickly we are getting the Spy x Family dub. One week behind the Japanese version is on par with pre-covid simuldubs. Throw in that this is a pretty long list of dubs, and I could see it as a real possibility.

If that is the case, I agree that I hope they don't ignore some of the benefits of remote recording, like being able to mix talent pools regardless of location and that reprisals don't necessarily require someone to be in the area anymore. Quite a few cast changes could be chalked up to someone not being physically available to record a sequel years later, and that was especially true with the stretched out time frame of simuldubs.

They also can use a hybrid form. Texas VA at the studio and remote from other places.

There's going to be even more announced later. They said they will premiere 30 dubs this season.

https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2022/04/11/crunchyroll-reveals-simuldub-lineup-for-spring-2022-first-spy-x-family-cast-details

"Get ready for an incredible 30 English dubs debuting this season! "

Edit: Apparently it was an arithmetic error, and they changed it to "Get ready for an incredible amount of English dubs debuting this season! "

If Crunchyroll is handling all these dubs locally with no more remote dubbing it makes me worry if all these poor VAs are going to be overworked and we already know they don't get paid enough.

Their new offices definitely have more studios than the previous one (I think around ten?), but they were outsourcing while completely working from home so I really hope we still get some of that. Both to avoid overworking the salaried TX staff even more and to continue having some variety in the creative leadership positions, casting, etc... who are dubbing these shows.

MOrgan Lea said that studios like Sound Cadence, Kocha Sound, Nano, Okatron and such can still be hired and still do work at home recording.
