I recall many that people were confused by the developers mentioning a version for a future Nintendo system, as if they were convinced that Nintendo would released a Switch successor in 2022 (something that fueled some speculations about a Switch Pro in various forums). I guess they also realized that the game's prequel sold pretty well on Switch so they probably didn't want alienate those fans. To be fair, when the first footage for the game was shown it looked a lot like Octopath Traveller, and since then the Switch got games with a similar style like Triangle Strategy and Live-A-Live, Eiyuden doesn't seem like a game the Switch can't handle it, they should have announced it for the Switch from the start.
