I wonder if it’ll play in my local theater or I’ll have to find one a while away, like when I saw Macross Plus last December.

I get why Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was delayed to America since the franchise is new but Dragon Ball?

This is me. While our county has a pop. of over 90k, we only have 2 theaters and one is a drive-in which is closed during the winter. Our Regal is out of date as hell and most people I know and myself would rather drive 35 miles into Charlotte to have a decent theater experience. Add in the fact that our Regal does not do Fathom events at all all the more reason to go. It's funny when we had a lower population of around 35-45k we had like 7 theaters and besides maybe one of them they were all good.

More androids? Again? How many times have we had this exact same plot play out? At least Cell gave it a bit of a time-travel twist.

Or maybe I'm the weird one and the rest of the world is just hugely nostalgic for the Red Ribbon Army arc of Dragon Ball and loves these call-backs and new robots? I always thought it was one of the weaker arcs, Arale cameo excepted.

Poster kicks ass, tho.

Yeah, it's just you who thinks that, because those arcs with the androids from the original DB and the ones with Trunks, Cell and the time travel stuff in the Z sagas are the most memorable ones for even casual viewers. I mean, besides Freezer, people pinpoint Cell and the androids as some of the most popular characters from the anime.

...I wasn't talking about the DBZ arcs being underwhelming, but the original Red Ribbon Army arc. Most of the characters were fairly forgettable and we never saw them again... contrast that with the arcs the first arc (Bulma, Oolong, Yamcha, Puar, Roshi, etc.) or the Budokai arcs (Crane Hermit, Piccolo, Chochi, etc.).

The Red Ribbon Army arc has a bunch of Nazi wannabes, a Frankenstein knockoff and an Arale cameo.

I mean, that arc also features Tao Pai Pai, who was impactful enough to make a return in the Crane School story, on top of being the first enemy to damn near kill Goku. And also introduced Korin, who has stuck around as much as any other non-Alien character in Dragonball continuity. And while the RR were out of the picture by the time it happened, the arc eventually lead to Goku and Grandpa Gohan meeting for basically the only time in the story.

It's fine if you don't like it, but there's plenty of stuff from the Red Ribbon Army that's stuck around or been referenced before this, and bringing them back is a cool way to bring more of the pre-Z elements that Super had at points. I'd rather bring them back than just introduce another new alien villain who just so happens to want to pick a fight with Earth and/or Goku.

If it’s like Super: Broly, it should be playing on over 1,200 screens.
