A Tactics Ogre re-release (re-re-release?) suits me just fine. Hopefully they touch up some of the jankier edges of the game (Class levels, crafting, etc) because the core of the game is fantastic.

Never played Crisis Core, but I just might if this remake goes well.

Dragon's Dogma never really hooked me- seemed like a lot of good ideas marred by iffy execution. That gives a sequel plenty of room to be amazing though.

As someone who still doesn't have a PS5, I'm glad the FFVII remake and INTERmission are coming to Steam. Now I just need to buy the rest of my parts for my gaming PC since my current one isn't even close to powerful enough to run it efficiently.

- Microsoft showcase: honestly I'm not interested on the Xbox compared to Nintendo and Sony but I alwys look forward to their conferences just to see if they announce a new Banjo Kazooie project or remake, this year there were some rumors about a possible announcement and once again there was nothing. Maybe next time
- Persona: at this point, it's difficult to have faith that Atlus will port the Persona games on Switch. Although Nintendo and Atlus relationship seems good, I now believe that SEGA is perhaps the responsible for the lack of ports. Aside from Sonic and some smaller titles SEGA hasn't supported the Switch as much as other developers, I heard that while Nagoshi was still in charge he discouraged the ports of games like Yakuza and Sakura Wars, because he believed the Switch userbase were primarily children, and while Nagoshi has left SEGA perhaps his policies are still active. The fact that SMT V was released on the Switch was probably because Nintendo actually funded its development.

The FF7 announcements have me thinking I'll wait a bit longer to get around to playing Remake. I waited to buy it until it was cheap, and that ended up being right around the time they announced a PS5 upgrade. But I still haven't gotten around to playing it, and now I might just wait so I can go from one part into the next.

Welcome back to another news-tastic This Week in Games! If you're expecting to read anything here about recent Overwatch 2-related presentations, you are gravely mistaken, because after a year of having to constantly report on increasingly awful revelations about Activision-Blizzard's fetid corporate culture, I have no desire to try to help them rehabilitate their image through hype. And that also goes for Diablo IV. Screw that nonsense.

Not for nothing but with so many major video game companies engaging in questionable behavior towards employees and even consumers then putting out new games doesn’t make them any less shitty. Same way for example that Disney putting LGBTQ friendly content in their movies doesn’t mitigate them doing things like initially supporting Ron DeSantis prior to signing that stupid Law in Florida that endangers LGBTQ youth.

Fallout 76 and how much Starfield’s development was hobbled by mismanagement. If your gut feeling, like mine, tells you don't trust Todd Howard, it's probably for a good reason.

I’m already hating the fact your character can’t speak it’s 2022 can we get rid of this heroic mime shit?

Also if we are to get another LUCT remake can they please get rid of the whole enemies match your highest leveled character it makes doing the side content next to impossible to do and maybe change the endings where spoiler[Denam becomes king]

-Tactics Ogre: I still find it funny how a bunch of cowardly SQEX executives drove Matsuno out of the company for fear of his version of FFXII alienating people only now for the rock star of the company to be Naoki Yoshida. A man who joined the company solely for the chance to work with Matsuno. Sometimes the world works in weird ways. But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if this shows up at the next Direct in the next week or so as the TO remake would be perfect for the Switch

-Starfield: This is just No Man's Sky with a gritty art style. Not exactly lighting the world on fire.

-Wo Long: Yeesh, as if Lu Bu wasn't terrifying enough. Apparently it's also going to focus more on the action side of things, paring down a ton of the loot system from Nioh. Fine by me, as the loot system in Nioh could become cluttered fast when all you want to do is know which numbers are bigger.

There's no Banjo Kazooie news in this Xbox showcase probably because it's supposed to be for games that's expected to come out within the next 12 months (except for Kojima's cloud game). That's why, instead of CGI trailers, it's full of gameplays

Yeah, pretty much everybody's implicated these days. It'd be hard to skirt news that doesn't involve an implicated major gaming studio

Yeah it's nicknamed No Man's Skyrim Very Happy

"Starfield Is Being Called “No Man’s Skyrim” Like That’s a Bad Thing" - Fans are worried that Starfield will be a little too familiar, but the best thing Bethesda's next RPG could be is Skyrim meets No Man's Sky

It's not revolutionizing the gaming world - it just has to do things better. If it's released relatively bug-free (compare to past Bethesda games), it'd be played for years, like people still keep playing Skyrim for over a decade.[1] Starfield was one of the 5 nominees for Most Anticipated Game just last December's Video Game Awards

[1] Yeah, believe it or not, for all the US successes of Elden Ring early this year, people still played Skyrim more than Elden Ring!

Considering Bethesda's history, it will not do things better, it will just be blander, more boring, and more tedious. Even the UI seems ripped straight from No Man's Sky. And when that's all you got as the big gameplay reveal, that's kind of pathetic

IMHO, Skyrim is better than Morrowind, so they've improved from a previous game before

I'd love to see Tactics Ogre return again. Still one of my favorite games. Realistically, though, I'll probably only buy it if it releases on Switch. I would never found time to finish the previous releases if I didn't have them on the PSP and then the Vita, and the Switch is basically the Vita 2.

That said, I'd like to see Ogre Battle 64 get some loves on of these days too. That game's far from perfect, but nothing else plays quite like it, and getting out an N64 every time I want to replay it gets annoying.

It was to be expected that the Persona ports would be announced for other platforms after the Xbox reveal. But I must admit, I did indulge in a good amount of schadenfreude over annoying Playstation fanatics just absolutely losing it until that press release.

Crisis Core is perhaps the best of the various 2000s FFVII spinoffs

I'm sorry what? Of all the terrible games I've played, Crisis Core is probably the one game I'm having a hard time finding a POSITIVE thing to say about.

The... music's nice, I guess?

Combine that with a terrible dungeon layouts that rivals Tales Of games in bad design, stilted dialogue, a retconned cliche ending, and a roulette system in combat that cannot be interacted with in any way thus making it completely pointless, I wonder exactly what this spinoff did that makes it better than literally any of the others -- even over Dirge.
