It’s about time! I’m definitely going to get a boxset if there’s one (though that’ll mean paying money for that third movie, yuck). I just wonder what English dubs will be available, or if they plan on redubbing these movies yet again, perhaps with the VSI/Netflix cast (I’d be on board, but let the other dubs be available, too).

I know I’m getting ahead of myself, since they’re only talking about the last movie for now.

I am actually interested in watching this in theatres mostly because I think it was made for the big screen specifically.

Only took a year and a half thanks to Amazon swooping in. I guess there wasn’t much hope of Funi/CR getting the movie. It’s a shame Khara has forced so many different international casts on this franchise yet they’ve kept the same Japanese throughout.

While I enjoyed the streaming version of this I would like to own it on physical media. I'm interested in seeing it on the big screen. Plus I know people who would be interested in it too.

I am very glad it didn't take years and years for a home video license.

Please, please, please redub this. I trust Gkids with this. I'd prefer they keep the cast that stayed from the ADV days (but with Brina as Rei), but screw it. I'm not picky. The Amazon dub is just awful and feels lifeless and emotionally confused. If they redub it though, hopefully they'll get to redub the other films (or just get the Funimation cast back together).

Looking forward to this on Blu-ray but with that said, If this is being worked on by Shout Factory this time, here's hoping they don't screw it up like they did for Belle.

the Brazilian dub cast has been surprisingly consistent compared to what most countries did, despite the fact the classic series got three different dubs and the first two Rebuild movies got two different dubs each.
While there were characters who constantly changed actors for each dub(like Misato,Kaji,Fuyutsuki and Keel),characters like Shinji,Asuka,Rei,Toji,Gendo and Kaworu never got recast(in fact, the VAs for the kids were actual kids when they did the first dub. They obviously sounded different when they came back for the redubs, but they have remained on the characters to this day)

Nice to see someone pick it up, but man… Looks like the first two blurays aren’t available anymore, so I’m not sure if I really want to buy this and not have a complete collection.

My guess is there’s eventually going to be some kind of boxset with all the movies. Just a guess, though.

The English cast is fairly consistent except the Netflix dub of the original series. Shinji, Misato, and Asuka have each kept the same voice actors outside of that. Some characters change frequently like Ritsuko, Toji, and the Techs, but Kaworu is the only character to change every time (he's on his 6th English VA).

Idoubt GKids is going to spend more money to redub the movies again. The Netflix recast only happened because of Anno's dissatisfaction with Funimation's dub of 3.0 and the Amazon Prime dub was made to give the original cast one last chance to finish up their characters. Anno has not expressed any displeasure with the Amazon Prime dub so I think people are having unrealistic expectations for another dub. At most they might clean up some technical sound mixing issues with the Amazon Prime dub but they're not going to spend more money on yet another cast when there's no benefit to do so and Anno has not expressed any issues with it. I'm glad to see this coming out and I already own the Funimation release of the first three but I do hope we'll get a nice new release from GKids of them.

The only returning cast members in the Funimation dub were Shinji, Misato, and Asuka. Everyone else was replaced and Rei was voiced by Brina Palencia in the Funimation dub instead of Amanda Win Lee.

I doubt it would have ever been dubbed by Funimation regardless of where it ended up, Khara don't seem pleased with their dub. Though aside from some voice differences, I find it hard to tell the two dubs apart.
