Knowing tokyopop, they're probably lying about the copyright. if they aren't, i'm glad that their dumpster fire of a competition made them learn their lesson.

Either way nobody's entering lol

Oh, so Stu's taking his...what, third shot at bringing this back to exploit young artists? While keeping the prize amounts the same as they were 20 years ago and claiming he won't try any funny business with IPs on the basis of "dude, trust me"?

I only look forward to seeing how badly he and Tokyopop get dragged by the artists who survived the first version (no thanks to his efforts).

Also, I guarantee you that Discord is going to become Drama Central.

The company also added that the owners will retain the copyright on their works, and that Tokyopop will not have ownership of the IP.

Yeaaaah I doubt that, considering the last time they did OEL manga they completely screwed over their creators by taking the copyright.

Ah, this will go over very well… (not)

Seriously, wtf is Stu thinking??? That he can get away with this again??? He just might straight-up annihilate his whole company again, but for good this time.

I wouldn't suggest anybody touch any contest like this with a ten-foot pole without having a lawyer examine the terms veeeeeery carefully. Same with those contests on MyAnimeList, as well as the ones for webtoons over on Lezhin and webtoons.com. It's very easy for young people to get swept up by their passion for the art and get screwed over if they aren't paying close attention.

Discord server? How can people join their Discord if there is no link to it? Not on their website, either.

Yes, there is no link to Discord server. More BL manga, great!

Man, I was just thinking about some of the artists featured in that contest and hoping they found better (actual paying) outlets for their creativity. Here’s to you, guy who made that awesomely hilarious mecha parody! Hope you’re doing well out there and never come into contact with Tokyopop ever again!

Let's remember that TP USA as we knew them died out when they closed-up shot for a bit over a decade. I honest am surprised that zombie TP is still alive.
