See, the worst part is when I was writing up the draft, I had a bit where I fretted over whether or not I used the right title. And I told myself, "Yeah, its XII, XI was the mmo that never came to the US". Final Fantasy strikes again...

Armed Fantasia and (especially,) Penny Blood are the highlights for me this week- I still adore Shadow Hearts, especially the first 2 on the ps2, for their weird sense of humor and strong emotional resonance. The funding, last I checked, was sitting over the 1.1 million mark-not bad for a campaign that opened on Monday.

G-Mode should port Front Mission 2089-II as it's necessary to even understand Front Mission 2089: Borderscape, why SE didn't remake 2089-II first is beyond me as they did remake the first 2089 game.

I doubt most of the Dragon Quest fandom was sucking air through their teeth at this news, as opposed to feeling honored and glad to see a great man recognized. Unless one means a very small section of the fandom that also probably hates the fanservice stuff like Veronica in XI and found Sylvia/Sylvando offensive. But those are not core the Dragon Quest fanbase.

It's also interesting to hear "Square-Enix had to distance themselves form him" when it appears to cite an article about ANN hounding Square-Enix's PR email about the issue until they gave them generic response of "the views of individuals are their own". Evidently that did not stop them from working with him until the end on many more future projects and promotional events, and giving a heartfelt eulogy for the man when he passed. Square-Enix distanced themselves so much that they're continuing to sponsor and promote concerts in his name.

Do not blatantly lie. "Hounding" implies "sent them emails over and over" or "harassed" them for a response. I wrote that article. I sent them one e-mail expecting no response at all.

Drawing a false equivalence between these groups is suspect and without merit.

You are painting an image of events you were not a part of so that you can disregard what happened to fit your opinion. Do it again and you're out.

I dislike Veronica but not for anything having to do with fanservice.

She was just a badly written character. Not Maribelle levels of “someone should’ve lost their jobs for writing a character this poorly” but still no good.

I really didn't expect much from the Konami store thing, mostly because I barely saw and news on it, but still feel disappointed.

How would you do Boktai without the solar panel thing? Base it off a real time clock instead?

Kojima was spitballing about it a few weeks back on Twitter; his off-the-cuff idea was for an online component to the game that updated the in-world weather based off of your local weather forecast. Kinda like how the Wii had a Weather Channel app, for whatever reason. And it'd be a smart idea that already has some basis in previous Boktai games: Boktai DS ("Lunar Knights" in the US) simply made its own weather patterns you could manipulate with the Para-SOL system.

Yes.


Not only did Survive not even have Kojima's involvement, it wasn't even a tactical espionage action game: it was a freaking crafting/survival game that was nickle-and-dimed to hell with microtransactions for crafting components. You had to pay $10 for an extra save file.

At least freaking Snake's Revenge tried to play a little like the NES Metal Gear. Survive was just Konami torching the MGS brand and salting the Earth.

Well, I thought the program was good. I'd recommend it to anyone into Dragon Quest or video game music in general. Pretty fun, but didn't really cover anything you wouldn't already know about Sugiyama's life if you're heavily into DQ already. But you get to see some really neat and rare DQ hardware and cartridges and Mogurider Shiba as Yuji Horii was a funny treat. Ending it with a live orchestra and dance performance was a nice touch. More of a tribute than an informative biography for anyone into DQ already.
