My subscription expires December next year so I don't have to worry about it for now, but a raise of $250 mexican pesos (like 13 US dollars) it's not a little thing considering our wages

Of course it will make sense for strong economic nations to receive a price increase as part of a "unification" policy between two anime distributing heavyweights. Guess we need to do our part in this economy. Rolling Eyes

I just don't understand their logic. Prices of EVERYTHING is going up, especially important things like food. But wages are not going up and somehow all these companies think people will pay MORE for luxuries that have free alternatives? Greed is not good

None of those countries/territories were decreased in July, which would have signaled a bad planification.

Yeah, I have gotten pretty tired of the response to every product or service is to pass it along to the customer. Unless that customer has wages that also increase it will hit a point where you have to decide what stays and goes. I'd love to watch Bleach after so long, but another monthly fee for one show isn't in my budget these days.

The news is out that we're heading into a recession, some of if not most of that being the result of the war in Ukraine which are affecting supply chain issues. People are being made to tighten their belts which means being more frugal with their purchases including groceries AND anime!

For FUNimation and Crunchyroll to raise prices based on economic assessment of certain nations and expecting US to deal with it on account of their notoriety, corporate posturing and streaming availability is only going to serve to drive the majority public back into the glory hole that is online piracy. This is a disaster that is about to happen unless they ease off.

Well, if the recession doesn't make everyone move to piracy (again, like in the last one), crunchyroll's bad moves will

Recession means people were going to cancel subs regardless of the price staying the same. So to make up for it, they will raise it for those who'll remain, assuming many will still afford it.

Some of these currencies are flat-lining vs the US dollar and CR is a US company so they're seeing earnings draw down even if customer base is steady.

10 AUD was worth $7.50 a year ago but today it's worth $6.30.
10 EUR was $11.50 a year ago but is $9.80 today.
10 GBP was $13.70 a year ago and is $11.35 today.

Cancelled my Funimation when they went to Crunchyroll... as suggested by FuniRoll. Still some series that haven't made their way over to Crunchyroll and some that haven't moved the dubs over.

Still waiting to be able to use both for one subscription.

Obviously no consumer should be happy about a price increase, but until recently, I had to pay for both Crunchy and Funi so I think that lessens the blow of any impending price hikes.

Some surely will. I think a lot of people will just not continually stay subbed. I know a lot of people who just rotate between streaming services to cut cost.

Would anyone know how to delete my Crunchyroll account entirely? No matter where I look in my settings, I can't find a means to delete outright.

Not in the app, you should go to the web, AFAIK.

Companies are greedy even when real wages are increasing faster than inflation, and greedy when they cut prices. Companies are always greedy, the question is what's going on economically.

It's largely a currency issue (and ultimately an inflation issue). From a US company's perspective, if they keep the price denominated in other currencies the same, people are paying them less. Currencies don't usually fluctuate as much as they do now. It's partly paying the bill for the pandemic (the inability to spend then pushed some consequences further out to now), partly Russia's war on Ukraine, and partly the ill-advised inflation inducing stimulus legislation passed in the last two years by the new US Administration when things were already overheating combined with the US Federal Reserve's reactions to it to bring inflation under control.
