Despite this season having many big sequels this series is near the top of my list, wild times.

I do wish it was a bit less in love with the cliche, sure there fine, but they've been done so many time, while the DIY aspect is a bit neglected and that's at least novel.
The technological progression sub theme though fall completely flat for me, anybody who's been in a maker space will know that the DIY movement absolutely does not oppose technological progression. One of the main advantages of 3D printer is that they're available to hobbyist for small scale project that can't be mass produced. |

Ironically, I think any place that labels itself as a "maker space" appeals specifically to the type of people who want to incorporate the latest technological innovations into their crafts, so using them as your representative sample is a rather biased selection. There are still wood shops out there and private individuals who prefer to do everything by hand with minimal technological assistance, but they're not the kind of people who share everything they do on social media. There's definitely room for both of them to work together, though, and I'm hopeful that when Purin inevitably joins the club, we'll get to see a bit of that... although I'm not holding on to that hope too strongly since the last couple of episodes have mostly focused on character drama rather than the actual details of their crafts. What bugs me the most about the show is the complete lack of safety equipment. I'm getting anxiety every time Serufu gets within ten feet of a power tool. You would think that drawing all of the girls in safety glasses would be a shoe-in for promotional material. |

This series reminds one of Sketchbook, one of my all-time favourite manga about a very eccentric art club. I'm not sure if it's Serufu's attitude, her hairstyle, or something about the overall look of the series, but those are some nice vibes.

I think this series is an ode to craft. It can be wood, wool, code or words. The act of employing skill, effort and time in the service of creation and expression. No amount of technology will dull what seems to be a fairly fundamental human urge to create, and to share in the joy the process as much as the result. I think the shows thesis is that there is no tech-singularity that will take away the need to make things because none of us would actually want to live in a world where it had. I love Jobko looking at Purin and seeing a mirror. She's honest enough with herself to know her faults, even if she can't help but continue to be the way she is. And she knows Purin is the same. So she resolves to do what she can to help by building some bridges Purin can't build for herself. I think the whole setup of her moving in is at least as much about that as it is getting access to the course materials she'd originally intended. And finally: a wild catgirl appears! Should be interesting. |

So the series was never very original, with all character falling obviously into the usual tropes. But couldn't they have tried even a bit to not re-use the cliche "weird rich foreign girl"? There's only 6 character in this show and they're already using backstory.
Otherwise, where can you find place that just give pallet like that? Those things are pretty expensive and most employee are already pretty gung ho about grabbing those when they're not needed anymore. |

It really depends on the pallet. Back when I used to work for Party City, we'd get deliveries on pallets every once in a while that came on really cheap pallets that we just left behind the store. Most of the time, none of us wanted them, but after a month or two, there was a guy with a pickup truck that would pick them up and cart them off. On the other hand, the grocery store where I work now uses heavy duty wood or plastic pallets that we send back to the chain's main warehouse. |

I'm glad you're enjoying it! But if CGDCT is all you're here for, there are many choices. That's not my genre, so I'm just here for the DIY stuff. And mostly, it's pretty nice. But...
And here's where this week's problem came in. The animation is great! The advice, not so much. A crowbar's fulcrum is at its curve, and choking up on it puts your force closer to the fulcrum, thus decreasing your mechanical advantage. That scene was so frustrating to watch! 
I like the girls and I like the artwork, but I'm still going to complain when they give bad advice or show dangerous practices. That ought not impact your enjoyment of it, at least I'd hope not. |

I was glad Meat finally got a meal he could safely sleep through.
The pallet advice is... hmmm. Free pallets are absolutely a thing, but at least in my corner of the US the disposable ones that you can get for free are made of pretty low quality wood and they are also very full of nails, with substantial irregularities. It's hard to take them apart without shattering the pieces and if you use them intact that introduces issues as well. They don't take stain well. Buying lumber ... often ends up cheaper. But it can depend - it's just that the really well made pallets tend to go back for reuse. Jobko's voice acting kind of distresses me just because they keep dropping English words into her script but then she can't say them correctly; to me she doesn't even sound like someone who is Japanese and speaks English with a Japanese accent. It doesn't feel right if they're trying to make her an American and it's pretty jarring... I'd rather they kept all her dialog in Japanese. |

(My dad lost an eye working on a metal lathe back in the 1940s when things like eye protection were not common.) |
