You can say this second cour ends precisely where the manga actually got genuinely engaging to me personally, yeah. But I still think that despite being a slow burner start compared to Magi, much like with the adaptation of the aforementioned, this anime rushed through the chapters too fast with the exception of the first 3 episodes or so (leaving wordl building, context, background and character progression behind with them).
In short I do recommend reading the arcs covered so far for a better experience with the overall content. This arc covered in this cour particularly managed to absurdly rush whopping 10 chapters in a single episode, and there was a fair amount of text in them, too (content for at least 3 episodes worth, at a fast pace!). This author is very cursed with anime adaptations, it seems every single anime adapted season that she gets for her mangas not named "Sumomomo Momomo", turns out to be a very distilled version of the experience with barely enough of the substance of their stories to actually do them justice. Magi, Orient and Adventure of Sinbad truly feel more like highlight advertisement at this point (kinda like Tokyo Ghoul, which also went for nearly 6-7 text-heavy volumes per cour, except in there it was far worse and way less faithful). And all of which always left half unfinished so far (including Sumomomo Momomo), let's see if Orient breaks that curse I guess. |
