Coolness!! I really wish I could go see it. After all it comes out on my B-day. I guess that is something to brag about.

But all in all let's see how the fan community perceives this. I'm sure all the old time fans will have something to argue about on the BBS.

Only 3 more to go. That's going to take awhile.

That's a great birthday present! I'm hoping to make my way out to Japan sometime next (school) year (08-09) and catch either the 2nd or, even better, the 3rd and final movies. My college offers a semester in Japan program, and I can easily stay above the 3.0 GPA minimum requirement.

I'm sure that the Eva fandom will be divided on this movie, but that's the fun of it. I'm also sure that no matter what my opinion on these new movies is, I'm going to continue watching the old Eva. it can't be replaced.

Ain't it? I've been telling folks about it at work. The funny thing is being shocked about the date. What were the odds? And as much as I hated that song 'Fly me to the Moon' now all of a sudden Hikaru Utada sings it and I like it. Gee, I wonder how the hell that happened. Confused

Good luck to getting out there! I guess I'll get to Japan one day. I hope soon.

True, the old Eva can never be replaced, but I'm sure this one will be just as enjoyable. But again it will be something the fan community will be talking about for years to come. Wink

I just hope that 1. this gets licensed soon and 2. the people who license it (ADV probably) give it an A-class English dub.

Mental Image of an Eva 01 with an udder munching on grass with a large ADV branding on it's rump, marking it as ADV's Cash Cow.

Either that or i've watched the TV version one to many times and have totally lost it.

Rolling Eyes

Anyway, I couldn't be more excited about this release. Considering how long it has taken the manga to get made, it's nice to have some (sorta) new content in the Eva universe.

It's a very important series for me, one that made me see that animation could be more than just entertainment (back in 1997), and still holds the highbar for me in terms of storytelling and character development.

Here's hoping it holds true to the psychological, philosophical, and emotional content of the original, and isn't just all boobies and robots.

Now if they released it in America as well. It's fine. I hope I can visit Japan next year with the second movie premier. ADV better license and all the previous cast members will be back. I'm sure most of the cast members will show up.

Yes. For the sake of all good anime in this world, we cannot let Amanda Winn Lee do the ADR script. Matt Greenfield did a much better job. It's okay with me if she dubs Rei spoiler[and Yui] again; she did a fine job there, but...EoE's dub script was butchered.

As the time has dragged on and this film is about to hit theaters in Japan, the doubt in me is slowly being replaced by curiosity.

It'd be a feat for ADV to dig up all the old VA's. Really. Out of the main cast, only Tiffany Grant still does any regular work for ADV. I really liked Tristan MacAvery as Gendo, but he hasn't set foot in an ADV booth for ages.

I've always wanted to revoke Amanda Winn-Lee's directorial license ever since EoE. Among other things, six paraphrased words: "The sound effect wasn't goopy enough". (Seriously, something to that effect was on the commentary track.)

Yeah, he was much better than John Swasey, who did 21'-24' for the re-release. That guy's voice was overly nasal for Gendou's role.

One voice I'd like to see again was the original dub Fuyutsuki. He was one of my favorite things about the original show's dub. He got the inflections well, and had the right tone, especially in Episode 21, his chance to shine. (Michael Ross just sounded...dead.)

But...since I normally watch things subbed, it won't be as big a deal for me as for some.

Actually, I read that the main voice actors for Shinji, Auska, and Rei have already taken interest in reprising their roles as the main characters.

What did she do so bad? The worst thing I could say about the EoE dub was those odd sound effects (kinda like a cartoon character falling in goo?) and who they got to play Fuyutsuki. Not to say I wouldn't like to see Matt Greenfield working on it, though. Smile

But she did say some lame things in the commentaries. In "Death & Rebirth," she mentioned how "the gunshot sounded like a slap" (it was; just watch 24' again), and in EoE she said something like "the Japanese don't have a word for 'I'" (no, they don't have a word for "I"; they have many words for "I").

Yeah the commentary for End sucked for the most part but there were a few good parts in it. I hope ADV gets this and brings it over here as soon as possible because there is no way I’m waiting years to see this. I’m going to watch it fan subbed as soon as I can but I really want to be able to hold the legit dvd release in my hands as soon as possible. Once it’s out it’s going to look great along side all the other EVA box sets I already have. Very Happy
