Congrats to the top 3 on surpassing OP, especially JK doing it again.

Congratulations to JJK on topping the charts. JJK 0 is one of the smoothest and coolest shonen movies I've seen to date.

Isn't this the 4th straight year that one piece has been dethroned since the meteoric popularity of KnY?

For me it surprised me the most is My Hero Academia doing half of the rest despite still having none other than Bones doing their animation.

Keep in mind that the top 4 are all working with either the main spike or tail end of big sales spikes. JJK of course sells well each volume, but it also had a big boost from backlog sales thanks to the JJK0 movie that released right before the year started. Tokyo Revengers is similarly benefitting from a huge boost thanks to last year's TV anime, and Spy x Family is similarly getting a boost from its TV anime - though even before now it was average at least 1 million copies for each volume's initial print.

The only really unexpected one here is One Piece, which not only saw a per-volume sale resurgence with volume 100, and an increase in its backlog sales that OP hasn't seen in years, thanks to the hugely successful Film: Red movie.

MHA, comparatively, hasn't had anything to cause a huge spike. Sales of course picked up some with the start of the new anime season, but at this point MHA's new volume sales are consistent and high enough that it doesn't really move the needle. Regardless, 99% of mangaka out there would sell an organ to "only" sell 5 million copies in a year Laughing
