Yeah, this one REALLY didn’t work for me. I’m sure Isshin softens eventually, but despite the stalker fiancé being mostly played as set up and a joke, I found the situation more horrific than funny. So Isshin’s judgmental attitude about “how women are” felt less like a cute tsundere quirk and more like Chako had traded one unbearable situation for another. (This is also keeping in mind that I have a pretty high tolerance for controversial love interests) Being forced to play-act romance with a total asshole because it might make a five year old sad was just the cherry on the sundae.

It’s a pity, because I’d love to read a manga about the intricacies of tea growing and drying. I just don’t want anything Isshin is selling.

I read the review, I find this manga very trope-y with full of common manga/anime tropes, including dead parents and dead mom (that's too much). I feel like current mangas like that are becoming more trope-y with common but repetitive manga/anime cliches, therefore I don't read much mangas nowadays.

This one was a bit mixed. On one hand I appreciate that her gripes with him are founded in something understandable and he himself isn't just going to fall over and accommodate a stranger (her attempt to watch over him while not actually having the strength to was a highlight). On the other if he doesn't apologize for his constantly ascribing every little thing she does to "ugh, women" I'm going to get pissed off. He's not as bad as her awful ex especially because for all his rude comments he'll also pretty much let her do whatever she pleases unless it actively interferes with his work but I'm also not hot on the fact that her noticing the things he does for the farm is why she's softening up enough to entertain the thought that she may like him when the actual issue, that he's condescending as fudge and prone to microaggressions, has not been fixed at all.

I haven't read this but it's a shame it started off so good with dealing with topics maturely, and then becomes kinda tedious and generic.

I do want to know what this part of the review means

Laughing "Knows how to show rather than tell." I broke my dominant arm impressively badly and I've been voice-to-texting to write and then trying to correct errors with my remaining hand. Clearly I don't have the knack yet.

Voice to text would definitely make for interesting reviews...
Completely understandable! Thank you for the clarification. Hope you arm heals up quick!

Your review makes me very interested in this manga, I think I'll give it a try. Looks like the second volume is already available digitally in English too. Hope your arm gets better soon, it can't be easy writing satisfactorily with temperamental voice recognition software!
